"BRAND" Accelerated Nursing Degree - University of Wyoming or Accelerated Online BSN at UT Arlington

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hello everyone,

I live in Southern California and trying to find an Accelerated Online BSN program. If anyone can share their experience at UTA or University of Wyoming "Brand program" I would really appreciate your feedback. I hold a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in other science fields and would love to find an online accelerated program that would allow me to study from home and attend clinical rotations close by. I haven't found any program that offers this yet. Anyway, if you have recommendations on programs, that would be amazing and/or if you happen to have been a student at UTA or University of Wyoming for their accelerated programs that would help too.

Thanks a lot!

I doubt you are going to find an out of state school that allows you to do clinicals in California. The last school that had a contract in California was Indiana State's online LPN-BSN program in 2013. The Chancellor of the UC school system abruptly cancelled the contract because the ISU clinical students were taking up spots that could have been used by UC nursing students even though the ISU students were California residents.

Thanks so much for the info. At least I would like to find an accelerated online BSN program that has an easy commute from LA. This way I could attend clinical rotations out of state. Thanks again

Hi! I’m not sure if you are still looking for a flexible BSN, but you should check out Nightingale college.

Thanks so much! Will def check it out ?

Hi again Zule, would you mind telling me a little bit about your experience at Nightingale college? How much is online and how much is on-campus? Are you able to work during the BSN program? I have been looking into the Brand program at the University of Wyoming and it's not bad. Price wise they are the same but the BRAND program is much shorter. The only thing is that first semester I would need to fly there every other week, and the last semester I would need to move there. The 9 months in between are fully online so I could easily stay in LA. But Nightingale college seems like a good program too, if you can give me some feedback I would really appreciate it. Thanks again!!

Hi!
I’m not in the program yet. I’ve heard goods and bad-but of course every program has its goods and bads. My main concern is schedule but lots of moms-some with more than 2+ kids attend the program even while working and have good grades. The schedule is not stable because they work around other facilities schedule. The program is about 57k+ for 3 years, but if you have credits to transfer then it’s less time and money.

Speaking as a previous BRAND student, UW's program only allows clinical sites approved by faculty (majority in WY and some in northern CO). While I don't want to say there are no chances of having clinical opportunities in CA, the chances would be very very small. That being said, the clinical requirements throughout the program weren't too terrible.

Thanks so much. Did you have a good experience while taking the program? I just applied there...

@Magibmas I would recommend if you are still looking to call Nightingale College. I am working with them right now. Starting the Fall term (Aug 31st) they are stating Distance Learning. I am in Albuquerque NM but they told me for 2 weeks out of the 16 week semester I will go to Colorado Springs to do my Clinical rotation. I also hold a Bachelors in another degree.

@MagibmasI loved the program! It is quite intense, being only 15 months (really 14 when you factor in Winter break) but my experience was wonderful. It is definitely important to consider the type of program you are looking for, much of the curriculum is semi-independent, so you are responsible for your own mastery, however, the faculty hold regular zoom meetings to go over many of the concepts and were always available for any help (text, calls, emails). I am happy to answer any questions you might have!
