unfortunately my boyfriend insists on living in england (jokes)
if i come to live near him - how much are RNs getting paid these days? i worked over there for 6 months in 1998 and rates were pretty low then! but i have heard they have gone up.
I would like to come over and do agency work or a short term contract (nothing longer than 6 months)
I have 10 years experience and would be working med/surg.
while i'm at it - i have also heard that the process for licensure/work permit has gotten more complicated in recent years =- has anyone recently done the transition from usa to uk? how involved was it? i have an expired uk license - don't know whether that would make it easier?

Starting pay for a RN is approx £18000.
Having a PIN will probably make it easier to come over but you would need to get in touch with the NMC and ask
The problem I see is that at the moment the NHS is suffering big financial problems and laying staff off especially nurses and using less agency staff

yes the pay isnt really an issue its whether you can get a job
mind you you may get shifts through an agency or hospital bank, mind you they are even cutting back on those now, and leaving places short staffed
good luck with it all

The pay is rubbish & the working conditions are even worse - although the conditions are better in the private sector (pay, however, is not). NMC is only port of call & they'll take your money for you to go on the MASSIVE waiting list for training places that don't exist!
I know this is very negative but it's the truth.
