Boots & curls to an interview: Yay or Nay??

Nurses Job Hunt

Published

Hello,

I have an interview coming up and I was thinking to maybe wear a skirt with knee-hight boots (Both black in color). Do you guys think it's appropriate or not? Also, what about curly hair? appropriate styling for an interview or not?

Specializes in Emergency Nursing.

I usually wear business pants and a nice fitted button up shirt. Pretty plain but it's conservative and doesn't detract from the interview itself. I feel like you can do whatever you want with your hair as long as it's neat.

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PACU.

If you are in a cold snowy area, boots are fine with a nice suit. We have many applicants wear them, especially when it is 39 below lol But do NOT wear your fuzzy UGGS like one girl did...I get you are 22 years old but this isn't the rec hall at college!

Specializes in geriatrics.

I also have very curly hair with a mind of its own. For interviews and work, I wear my hair up.

Boots are not professional attire for interviews. Wear flats or shoes with a small platform or heel. Good luck with the interview!

I wore a skirt suit (skirt reached just below my knees), plain black with nude colored sheer hose. I finished the look with simple black matte flats. There was no glossy shine, buttons, or anything on the shoes. Just about the most simple flats you could ever find.

I have pretty straight hair so I ran a straightener over it to fix the ends and left it loose. I have fairly long hair (3-4 inches below my shoulders easily) I tucked the sides behind my ears.

I used light make up and clear nailpolish.

The interviewer complimented me on my look actually :) I think I played it safe and stayed conservative!
