I agree with the above...and it's National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, in case you didn't know. They have lots of info and great classes for the families of people with mental illnesses.
I remember when they started out as the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, but I thought they had changed the name more recently to something more "warm and fuzzy" (but with the same initials) -- which is why I didn't spell out the name ...

Hi everyone. Psych isn't my specialty so maybe you all can help me out. My bil was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia. He was hearing voices. He was started on meds.
I was looking for a good easy to read book for famlies of people with schizophrenia to help my husband and his family better understand and cope. I am afraid they are still in some denial with statements like "He still hears some voices, but he can handle it". My husband thinks he needs to get out of the house more and he would be better. So I appreciate any help.
