I am a nursing student in Twin Falls, and I just got hired at St. Als in the neuro unit. Just wanting to meet a few people that I will be working with!

Sorry, I'm not in Boise but did work there as a traveler years ago. Good job - I think St Al's is a great hospital, and have thought about going back many times.

I can't wait to move to Boise! I still have 3 more semesters to go here in Vegas, then we're on our way. Congrats on your upcoming graduation. There is a discussion section here on the individual states. I have posted in the Idaho thread, but unfortunately, not to many people from Idaho on this board. When you get to the hospital in Boise, let some of your co-workers know about this forum. We could really use their input! I have looked on the web for the different hospitals and it seems as though their starting pay is under $20. Is that the case? Kindof depressing since Vegas starts so much higher, but it still isn't worth it!

Are wages really that low there? Or is that for new grads only? I'm a nurse with 11 years L & D and hubby wants to move to Idaho Falls area. Was wondering what wages were in that area. Anyone know? Thanks.

Starting for new grads is only about 20 pretty much anywhere around here. I dont know what places start at for experience. But the cost of living in Idaho isnt as much as other places so I think it all evens out.

That depends on the debts I carry with me. I live in California now and am making $35/hr and am accustomed to living with that wage and my debts surely show it. I don't know if I could make it financially moving and making a significantly lower wage. Any experienced nurses out there from Idaho Falls area, please respond as I'm curious about wages. My hubby has been in this city all his life and he desperately wants out. Thanks in advance.

I love Boise! I graduated RN school in June of 1994 and could not find a job anywhere in Utah. I interviewed at St Alphonsus Hospital and moved up two weeks later. It was a great hospital to work for and I hope it hasn't changed! Moved back to Utah later in 1996.

Twin Falls is about 2hrs away from Boise. Idaho Falls, however, is on the opposite side of the state from Boise- closer to Wyoming and Yellowstone Natl Park.

Idaho Falls was paying low $20's a few years back, plus diffs. ICU was a little higher plus they got an ICU diff. If I can give you anymore info just let me know. :)
