BMCC Spring 2011 hopefuls?

Published

I know this is kind of early but I just wanted to check if anybody plans to apply for the Spring 2011 nursing program at BMCC (Borough of Manhattan Community College) in NYC. I just met the preclinical advisor this week and he gave an update that CUNY eliminated the need for non-preclinical students (like me who's currently at liberal arts at BMCC) to first change their curriculum to preclinical before applying for the nursing program.

Here's an April 30 memo from the nursing department for anybody who wants to apply for the nursing program:

------------------

TO: All Non-Nursing Students

FROM: The Nursing Department

DATE: April 30, 2010

RE: Admission into the Nursing Program

Non-nursing student who want to apply to the Nursing program please note the following:

1. Admission into the Nursing program is based on the GPA in the four required prerequisite courses (Eng101, Psy100, Mat104 and BIO425) and the overall GPA for both the Day and Evening/Weekend Nursing Programs.

2. Students who want to apply for the Full-Time Day Program must wait one semester after completion of the four required pre-requisite courses to apply for admission into the Nursing program.

3. Students who work full-time during the day and want to apply for the Part-Time Evening/Weekend Program must wait one semester after completion of the following courses: ENG101, PSY100, MAT104, BIO425, BIO426, BIO420, and PSY240 or SOC100 in order to apply for admission into the Nursing Program.

4. Please be aware that admission into the Nursing Program is also based on seat availability. The College does not guarantee admission into the Nursing Program.

5. In order to advance into the Nursing Program, students must provide documentation for one of the following categories:

US Citizenship, Permanent Residency, and International Students with F1 status, Granted Asylum, Refugee Status, Temporary Protected Status, Withholding of Removal, Deferred Enforced Departure or Deferred Action Status by the US Government.

-------------

By the way, for those who are applying in late October for the Spring 2011 program, make sure to bring your advisement sheet and transcript if you took some prereqs outside BMCC. If you're applying for the evening program, also bring proof of your current employment.

I'm sooo excited to apply and can't wait for October!

Best Regards,

Dee

hey xilostgirlxi.Do not worry. You did not receive a call today because he did not have enough time. You have a 4.0 GPA girl.I had a 3.97. Three A and a A-. My overall GPA is 3.85.Therefore, you will receive your call tomorrow for sure.

congrats icesk8ter

Thanks for the encouragement, I am really hoping that tomorrow will be the day, but knowing that other people are receiving the phone calls makes me so anxious/excited. I will post as soon as I hear anything! Thanks again you guys and congrats to those that already got in!!

I got a call too. ahhhhhhhhh.I am so happy

Congratulations Steffanie, I hope to bump into you at BMCC eventhough you're in the daytime program!

Thanks Xilostgirlxi, I'm sure you will get a call soon. I got that call at 2p and my last name is D and when I went to BMCC at 4:30, he is not calling anybody anymore so they could do the calls for the rest of the week in alphabetical orders.

The lucky part was I had a doctor's appt. late this afternoon so I started some of my needed vaccinations already (ouch! :D). Now I just need to check the other requirements and start working on them.

Goodluck everybody!

Best Regards,

Dee

Hey Steffanie,

Our orientation is actually at 6:30pm :). I wonder how long that will last...

Hi Dee,I guess it would take like 2 hours.

Hi Dee,

Congrats as well! I just picked up my package, and scheduled my cpr class, applied for the , and physical. I can't wait for the orientation on Wednesday. Also yes, I am in the evening program. You are too right? :) I can't wait to meet you! Also are you going to order your uniform by mail or are you going on the 18th?

I still can't believe we have our first math test on the first day of class and already have a few chapters we need to read. My head is spinning :)

Hi Steph, congrats!! I hope to see you around!

Hi Mel,

Yes, I'm in the evening program. I still have to call and schedule my CPR class but already had my physical and vaccines (except for Hepa B which I will do on Friday). Did you mail your ? The payment is just $20 right? As for the uniform, I'll be going on the 18th after work (around 6pm).

I'll start brushing up on my math (good thing I still have that Dosage Calculation book!) and start reading this weekend, definitely a lot of assignments!

See you next week Wednesday! I usually sit in the front because of my nearsightedness. I have shoulder-length black hair -- I'm Asian :-) -- and will be sporting a red/black plaid bag.

By the way, I checked RateYourProfessor, and it seems like our instructor's good rates outweigh the bad. That's a good sign :).

Best Regards,

Dee
