BMCC nursing fall 2016

Published

Hello everyone,

I passed the dreaded KAPLAN exam on June 2nd and I would like to begin communication with other fall 2016 nursing hopefuls.

My Kaplan score overall was a 79% i hope it's enough to get into the program

I will be in the evening/weekend program. I had to withdraw last semester due to personal issues but I reapplied took the dreaded Kaplan and will try this again. It's intense! I wish everyone the best of luck

How was it, what do you mean by intense

The class is very hard and demanding. Your "free time" will be spent studying. There is a lot of information for us to know and it comes at us very fast. The question format on the exams are like none you've ever seen before. With that being said I would recommend in addition to the required textbook getting a NCLEX-RN study guide or NCLEX app so you can familiarize yourself and be prepared for the exams; trust me you're going to need it. But with a positive attitude and being there for each other I promise this is doable and we'll all succeed.

For anyone in the evening/weekend program I have all the notes and powerpoints from last semester and more than willing to give insight on my experience.

Thank you for replying, I'm very sure we will do this. Like you said everyone working together to achieve success

Hi FutureNYCRN, I look forward to meeting you during class. I will be in the evening/weekend program as well. Thanks for your tips, I will be looking into this. I would love to see what information you have for the class. A friend mentioned that the evening program is different from the day program in that it is more demanding of you. Do Nursing Professors go over what will be on exams or provide an outline of what will be on the exam?

Hey guys. We have four new members in the facebook group BMCC Nursing Students Unite. Its a closed group so please ask to join. We definately need to lean on each other and work hard to get through nursing school. Hope you guys can join!

Hi maylovesppl, I can't seem to find this Facebook page you are talking about.

I can't find the page either

Hmm. If you type in BMCC Nursing Students Unite it will come up as a group thats closed. I'll try to put up a link or something. Sorry guys. Some people have found it.

Hi vbgm221 I look forward to meeting you as well. The evening program is much harder and demanding than the day program. The professor provides PowerPoint slides as well as notes but frankly I didn't find them beneficial to passing the exams. As a class we got together and shared videos and whatever we could find to pass. There was someone in the class that would find relevant info pertaining to the chapters we were covering and prepare notes from that and then distribute to the entire class. I have all of these notes and they are very helpful. The professor gave us an outline of the chapters to be covered on the exam and how many questions there will be from each topic but as far as an exam review; that didn't really happen. There were some topics she didn't cover because of time constraints but was on the exam and we were expected to learn it on our own. We're going to get to know each other very well in this class. We're going to laugh together, cry together, shake our heads in bewilderment together and we'll definitely celebrate our victories together. But the key word here is together; that's the only way we're all going to be able to do this.

If you've already picked up your packet I encourage you to start reading the assigned chapters and start putting together notes of your own. And if you want we can arrange to meet up.

My advice to you guys is to study very very well vital signs because is one of the most important chpts.. If you choose prof clarke focus on her slides and do a lot of practice questions, oh record and listen carefully her lecture as well.

Hi maylovesppl, I think I found it. I just have to click the "Groups" section.
