Hello To all,
I haven't been on this website for awhile feels good to be back . I just took my Teas Exam last week and passed thankfully. I thought I was going to get a higher score but I am still happy I passed. I have to wait until the middle of June to see if I get accepted to Bloomfield College nursing program for the Fall of 2015. I am excited and scared being that there is a lot of students to choose from, but I have hope. However, is always good to have a Plan B I have been struggling with searching for schools here in NJ that will accept my teas scores, if anyone knows some please comment below or have any advice it will be helpful. Thank you :)
The program is a great program, they are definitely not teaching you how to be a lazy nurse! You really do have some great professors but like every subject there are some teachers that can teach a subject better than others. I'm a junior. The first semester to me isn't really that bad , dependin on what kind of student you are. Everybody has their thing that they're good at, some people struggled with 215 , some with 235 . But I didn't have trouble with either one of them. Best advice for your first semester, STAY ON TOP OF YOUR READING! Also READ THE CHAPTERS! a lot of the times(and I mean a lot) some professors will test you on things from the book even if they've never spoken about it. I know a lot of people who didn't read and didn't do well. I've been through what you're getting ready to go through so ask all the questions you want. I have no problems answering them!
Who are your professors for 215 and 235?
Are you going on Tuesdays and Thursdays?
Are you taking any classes besides the Nursing classes?
Hey Quana , how do they pick the people for the Peer Mentoring Program?
Yea you might be right especially for the Spring semester but I thought the Fall semester might be a little easier but now that I think about it I'm still going to have clinicals and all that comes with that! By the way, be prepared because I'm definitely qoin to be textin you for help on how to pass Peds in the Spring, lol !
Hey , congratulations on getting in! I'm a junior in the program. At orientation, they'll take your picture , talk about the rules of the program. You'll meet most of the professors and nursing staff there. They'll tellin you where to buy the books from and the uniforms and your equipment(even though that's already in the packet you received). You'll meet the peer mentors, you'll have lunch, you'll play a little warm up game, etc.
Hello,
I am aiming to get into the nursing program for fall 2017. I am extremely nervous about getting in since my gpa isnt that great i only have a 3.1 and I havent taken the tease yet. I am a mom of 2 and i struggle with severe anxiety/ depression and i often have panic attacks in fact because if my panic attacks i had a hard time passing microbiology. Do you know anyone that stuggles with really bad anxiety and is in the program? and do you know of any parents who made it succesfully through the program. Also what would be your best advice for doing great in the program such as what are your study habits? What should i focus on to be succesful in the program? Etc. I have heard that he nursing programs passing rates/graduation rates are very poor. In your opinion what are the main reason people fail out/ are unsuccessful in the program? I am so sorry for the long list of questions i just want to know the best way to get into and through the program and be sucessful. Thank you in advance.
Hi love , lol , relax and breathe . trust me we have ALL been there before ! First thinqs first , for riqht now just focus on qettin into the proqram . You said your qpa is 3.1 but have you taken all of your prerequisites? If not you can still pull your qpa up. Did you pass both sections of Micro or do you have to take them over? Micro isn't a easy subject as is but the professor I had was wonderful and if you study , study , study , you'll be fine!
As far as the anxiety, I don't know anybody with really bad anxiety in the proqram. However, I know a few people who have kids in the proqram and they are doin fine. Also, one of the seniors who just qraduated had her baby in her junior year. Actually a couple of them had babies while in the proqram , so it's totally doable.
Yes, you are correct , when it comes to nursing programs they don't have the best graduation rates. I think that attributes to it bein such a vigorous program. You literally have somebody's life on your hands , this field definitely isn't for the incompetent. Somebody once told me "some people want to be nurses but just aren't cut out for it" . With that bein said a lot of people also don't realize how much work goes into passing nursing school. For the most part while the semester is going , you really don't have much of a life. A lot of people aren't ready to put their life on hold for school.
