Blood Type DIET?

Published

Anybody here familiar with this kind of diet?

Ive heard of it, my nutrition teacher swore by it when I was doing my pre-reqs. Like in the link before, there is a book called "Eat right 4 your type" I knew what my blood type is so i looked mine up and i couldn't do it because i'm too picky of an eater and the list of foods they have in there i didnt like! Its an interesting book and concept though! Good reading! I checked it out from the library instead of buying it though since i wouldn't actually be using it. if i remember right i think they have meals you can cook and stuff.

I read an article recently that debunked this diet. And the Wikipedia link also creates doubts - there isn't much evidence and it makes no sense to me.

I personally don't put a lot of stock in it, but I knew a girl in nsg sch that swore by it.

Check out the credentials. Dr. D’Adamo is a Doctor of Naturopathy, not an MD or PhD. Naturopathic physicians (N.D.’s or N.M.D’s) have a four-year degree from an accredited school of naturopathy, plus an additional year of study if they’re specializing. Nurses have more credibility. Only 13 states license naturopaths; they’re not well recognized.

Check out the facts. D’Adamo says the A blood type appeared between ten and fifteen thousand years ago, but we know agriculture originated in Mesopotamia, between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers only five thousand years ago. So, meat eaters mutated into vegetarians for no apparent reason, up to 10,000 years before it would have been adaptive for them to do so?

Check out the short list of allowed foods. This might be effective for weight loss because any time a person eliminates whole food groups from the diet, they will most likely lose weight. It looks like deprivation rather than good nutrition to me. We know fluctuations in weight compromise the immune system, and this is bad.

Check out the folks who swear by this diet. Are they heavy? Are they healthy?

Check out D’Adamo’s web site. Looks to me like he’s more interested in selling products than in helping people.

People who need to lose weight should eat the correct number of calories and exercise. People who want to stay healthy should follow the new food pyramid recommendations. Everyone should come work with me in long-term care. The skipped meals and frantic rushing around to get everything done will result in immediate and dramatic weight loss, plus an increase in muscle tone. Also, having been exposed to all those pathogens, they'll become immune to everything ... eventually.

What do you get to eat rare meat and bloody mary's. Just joking. I am sure at my hospital they would end up with a bland diet if it were ordered.

My question is I turned out to be the hunter (type O) then why am I anemic with ITP.

Hi newguard,

I don't know anything about it.

But if you ask me about diets I will tell you, there is not one diet out there that is good for every body, according to blood types or not!

Personally think, that one should just follow the general guidelines for healthy eating, like low fat, low sugar, whatch the general caloric intake.

Find out what are the helathy foods they really like, and eat them, too!!!

Forget BK, McDonalds, Wendy's, Arby's, Taco Bell, etc.

Reward themselves once in a while with some treat, like food or shopping.

I eat a piece of chocolate (dark) every now and then. Takes care of my sugar cravings and is really healthy, too.

thanks for all the replies

abooker, your pov clearly corrects my position, I was really thinking of buying this book..and I hate it when I saw that Type O should avoid ketchup :angryfire

anyway, in my own opinion, Fit For Life still is the best book on diet..
