Keep in mind that glucometers have a wide range of "acceptable " variability. 30% between different monitors, 20% on the same monitor. Meaning if you test the same sample with three different monitors, one reads 300, one reads 390, and one reads 210, they're within tolerance and working properly according to glucometer manufacturers.

Hi Everyone!
Wondering if any clinic nurses can weigh in with advice for the 2 questions below!! I am currently the only RN in a multi dr family practice.
1. What do you use/how do you do infant measurements (i.e. length and weight). Does anyone use a measuring board or a combo scale/length? Or just a scale for weight and then length done on the exam table?
2. For point of care glucose measurements what does your office use? Just the standard glucose meters pts get or the very expensive ones geared for medical offices? We won't be doing it very frequently, but wanted to get one for the office to use just in case.
I appreciate your insights!
Thanks!
