Biology and math!

Published

So... since I applied for July 2007 nursing program, I decided to do some upgrading this semester! (although I don't even know if I am accepted!) Sort of on a whim, I feel nervous... but I think it's all good!

I will be taking biology M and W (6:30-9:30) and math T and T (6:30-9:30). Wow, while working full time at the pharmacy, I will definately have a full plate! I think it is totally worth it, and in the fall semester I plan on doing chemistry and calculus. PHEW!

Kinda fun to pick up a few school supplies! teehee!

Anyone else doing a little upgrading while they wait?

When are you going to study?

during lunch at work, after work if I have a test to study for (I'm off at 4)... I will have friday evenings and all of the weekend. I think I will be fine. I live 5 mins from my job, and 5 mins from the school, so that is a blessing that I don't have to travel far!

I personally would not be able to work a full-time job and take two courses. Especially if I had a family. Do you have a family? Of course some people can do this. You listed 12 hours sitting in class weekly. The general rule is 2-3 hours of study time for each class time. Of course some people are so bright they have the functional capacity to study in less time effectively. What do you think about starting out with one class? Just to be safe and ease into school.

Are these accelerated classes? Three hours, 2 days per week is what I am doing for my accelerated algebra classes this semester. I'm taking two semesters accelerated into one.

Yes, I do have a family. It may seem like a lot.. but really it's grade 12 math (consumer) and biology. (upgrading) I don't think it's that much of a biggie. Bio, no problem! Love that stuff.. math meh... but it's the easy stuff. I can easily get the studying in these courses, as I never found them difficult. I guess I am older now and really want to focus on my marks and not just worry about passing so I can get out of school!

In september I will upgrade with the calculus... which will be the only class I take at the time. (physics and chemistry next Jan.... possibly just chem)

I wouldnt worry about it and I speak from personal experience. Over the last Fall 2005 sememster, I took A&PII, Microbiology, and Nutrition and finished with all A's. I have a full-time M-F 8-5 job, a husband, and twin 5 year olds. It definitely is possible. I went to class everyday except for Fridays. I have never paid much attention to that that whole "X number of hours to Y number of credits taken". But you do have to be fairly organized as far as time management in general.

oops! I meant "X number of hours of studying to Y number of credits taken"

Thanks Ree-Nee....

I plan on making time management a top priority... hopefully plan the whole day in advance the night before... including my lunches! LOL

I have one little girl at home...
