Hi!! Wondering if anyone has taken biochemistry (CHEM 210) through the online classes at portage learning. Just finished up the first module and have no idea what to expect for the exam/ how to study???!! Any tips/ advice or info is appreciated!!

The test was 25 questions multiple choice and 5 written -short responses. The grading on the written responses is steep, in my opinion, so answer exactly what they ask and expand from that to cover yourself. LOL So, my take away going forward is to say more than it asks for just in case it's poorly written /misleading and it can't hurt. I finished with spare time, but I probably would have used the entire time had I not been prepared for the written questions. The quizlet had most of them. You get 60 minutes for the test.
Hope this helps!

This is so helpful! I'm going to start this course in a couple months and will probably message you some questions beforehand if that's cool. Thanks so much!

Hi, Rhiannon!
I am currently in Biochem 210 and about to take my first exam this week. Do you have any study tips? How reliable would you say Quizlet is? Especially for the short answers?
The link I shared was a very good one to use. Quite similar to my test.
Thanks for the study tips! Did you use Quilet to study for your other module exams too?
I have had a ton of things going on and had to halt my studying last two weeks. So I only took the first exam. ??♀️ I will hopefully take the next exam next week. I’ll share any good quizlet links if there is one. ??♀️
Rhiannon,
Thank you!
Also, Happy Easter and best of luck on your next exam ?
best of luck to you on your first exam. I think the second one will actually take less time to study, as it’s less terms but more equations (or so it seems).
I’ll be happy to share how my second exam goes. I found out a something I shared on here was flagged for sharing too much about the exam so I cannot share anything specific, but I will gladly share anything I can to help others study!

I finished Biochem a few weeks ago. I definitely used quizlets as references and some were life savers. Try searching by questions on the problem sets.

I know it’s months later but I’m about to register for this class. How is it harder?

They are too detailed. This is not CC level. They want every innervation (nerves and what nerve does what)studied for A&P. They want calculations for respiratory ( about 6 of them). They are too detailed for Microbiology. A whole segment on just glycolysis that you will read over and over (including calculation). I lost interest and am going to an all-in-one school. I will say using Chegg and other resources for answers will help somewhat.

How long did it take you to finish the course? If I can ask, how hard do you think it is to get an A?
