Bio 202 Rio Salado

I took both 201 and 202 online through Rio. I'm not going to lie, it's tough but doable. The online lab quizzes were timed so that made it hard and if you didn't know the material super well you run out of time fast. The main tests are taken in-person at Rio and it helps to take the practice quizzes at the beginning and end of each online lesson to prepare. If you are able to take it in-person that would be ideal but if not Rio is convenient. I took 7 or 8 classes there total. Some were easier than others but Rio's science classes are tough...it's essentially like independent study. :confused:

I took the 8 week version and got an A pretty easily. I just finished a few weeks ago. You need to read and understand the book. The lesson quizzes aren't timed, so you should be able to get close to 100 on all of those if you give yourself enough time to find the answers. The lab quizzes are timed and you have to study beforehand because there is no way that you can look up every question, but the questions are pretty easy if you study. The tests are tough because you have to learn so much info on your own from reading the book, but the questions are actually pretty simple if you read and understand the material and follow the study outline. I am not saying the class is easy, but it's one of those classes where you get back what you put into it. It isn't calculus, where you can work and work and just not get the concept. You will be able to get an A if you work hard enough to earn it.

Oh, also you can't work ahead, which was really annoying to me. You will get a 0 on an assignment if you turn it in early. But I liked having a few days to be able to take the exam. However, there is a short window in which you can take an exam, so keep that in mind and check your schedule before choosing a start date. If you have a lot of time on your hands, I'd suggest doing the 8 week version just to get it over with. I can be a procrastinator because I have a job and would be tired and not feel motivated, so it really didn't matter if I took the 8 week or the 16 week. I would have waited until the last day to do the work either way and by doing the 8 week, I got it over with so much faster!

How many questions are there and how much time?

So Just LAB quizzes are timed?

I did chemistry through Rio, so I think this should be some what less of a challenge.

I took Chem through Rio too and felt it was easier but that's just me. I think it's because the Bio class is SO much info crammed into 8 weeks. I think the lab quizzes were under 10 mins...like a min or less per question so you have to study prior for the lab. If you did well with Chem there and are used to Rio's classes then you will likely do okay with Bio :up:

Yeah I kind of figured that since 201 was so much on the memory banks.

I am going 16 weeks. I still have Micro afterwords in the fall, so summer will be nice and well paced.

You have 13 minutes for 25 questions. But the questions are really straight forward. I'd finish with 3-8 minutes left and then go back and check my answers or look up something I was unsure about. The labs are pretty short in general and so you're really only studying 3-7 pages of the lab manual per lab quiz. So if you study for 30 minutes to an hour right before, you'll know most everything or at least know where to reference if you don't remember the answer. The lecture quizzes on the other hand, are a lot more difficult, but they aren't timed. So you have days to find the answers.

Hi Maycation,

How were the exams? Proctored?

I'm deciding whether to take the class and I would like to know as much about the class/difficulty to be fully prepared because I really need an A (don't we all, haha).
