I was wondering if Bio 205 is the same at Rio as there 201 and 202 classes. I was not a fan of the work load in 201 at Rio. I am hoping 205 is not the same set up.

Bio 205 was a bit easier...but essentially the same process as Bio 201/202.

So would you say it was the same with the midterm & final being most of the grade? I had a hard time with the classes there.

It is the same set up. If you don't average a 60% on the midterm and final you fail the class. I took the class. I passed, but it was hard.

ambigious lab's, tons of essay questions, and of course the famous application paragraphs, random midterm and final... so yeah the same as the rest of the science courses at Rio
So would you recommend doing it? I did well in BIO 156, but not with CHM 130.
Depends if online is the best way for you. If I could have taken it in class I think I would have gotten more out of it, but it wasn't possible for me. I still have the book if you decided to go that route.
Overall Bio205 was wayyyy easier than Chem130.. too much in Chem to self teach if you are not a math wiz or a science wiz... Bio 205 contained many things that I already knew and only added a bit more detail. If its your only class I say sure take it... its the same work load as all the other sciences at Rio... so you can do it.
Of course I was trying to take both at the same time which I do not recommend, plus study for the NCLEX-PN, then start a new job actually working as a nurse... so yeah I dropped them both. But I had an A in Bio205 going into the midterm and got a 60% on the midterm because I didn't study for it, but I was still technically passing... I just didn't have the time to finish. In hindsight I should have only dropped Chem... but I had no time to do any school work at that point in my life.
I say if it fits into your life and you can't get to a campus location than go for it, knowing its alot of work just like Bio156, 201 & 202.

I tried to sign up for BIO205 at Rio because I have to take it online. They told me that because my biology pre-req was over five years old I couldn't take the class. I informed them that this was not the case at other Maricopa CC's, and their excuse was that they have a "very strict science department". In other words, they want you to take a biology class at their school.
I have had nothing but bad experiences taking bio202 at Rio Salado and will NEVER take a class there again.

I had the same issue, but I took a CLEP test for Biology, and was allowed to use that instead.
