Okay,

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!!

I was going totally mental with anxiety, checking this board several times a day to see when people were hearing back, compared to when they had applied and what their stats were. I was also very nervous about how I had done on the TEAS, so I wanted to post my info to help other people a little. Here are my stats:

I applied to the school January 4th, 2010. I took the TEAS January 23rd, 2010.

Previous BA degree in anthropology. I graduate in August of 2009 with a 3.46 cumulative GPA.

I took A&P I last fall, at Gateway: B

Developmental Psych: A

TEAS: 81.2% (mean national was 72.8% and the mean for the program 73.3%)

My adjusted individual scores were as follows:

Reading: 82.5%

Math: 82.2%

Science: 70%

English: 85.5%

In all my nervousness, I called two days ago and was told that I would likely hear back from the in school 4-6 weeks. Then I got my letter today, February 5th. For the record, my admissions essay was based on a CNA training course I took in the fall and I also think that having a previous BA really helped, especially in seeing past that nasty 70% in the science section of the TEAS.

Good luck and I hope this information was helpful, or at least of interest, to some of you!!

AD and AS are the same for job purposes. not having a BSN is the bigger problem especially for acute care. for the specialties a lot require BSN as the minimum. SN jobs really help the hospital see how you work and if they like you they will most likely hire you. the CC also dont spend as much time in the hospital so if you are looking for acute care bhsn spends all the time in that setting. on the third day of school you are on a floor at the hospital at bhsn. also if you pretty good student and good clinical then bhsn offers a lot of students jobs if they want them because they are already trained to the system and know about procedures. there is good and bad with every school and you have to find one that is going to work for you. bhsn moves quick and works in the courses like nutrition and pharm into each course, not separately which i think ties everything together better but others like it better when they learn them as a course on its own like the CC. the best way really help you decide if to talk to a student because the teachers are always going to say that the way they do it is best.

for financial aid even if you get the most that is offered you still need to take out student loans for bhsn. the total is about 25000 for the 2 years and the most you can get a year for financial aid if 5500.

Thank you for your reply. I really love the idea of a hospital run nursing program and that was the main reason I applied there. I know it's more expensive but I've got to borrow the money anyway. What's few extra dollars? (haha) I have 3 friends at NVCC getting ready to graduate the program, so I've heard a bit about the program there. Bridgeport also offers in depth training in a particular area after graduation. Nobody else does that. I've heard really good things about the instructors and the staff at Bridgeport. I'm excited to start :)

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear, I hope you hear great news soon!

Congratulations to those who made it in!

hey i just got put in the waitlist :-( anyone knows if some people do make it after being put in the waitlist? Or even if people got in without being put in the wait list?

i was on the wait list and got accepted. and i know of a couple others that definatly were too. i am not sure about how many total did but some do. if you have really good gpa and teas and it just doesnt make sense why you didnt get accepted i would say you are probably be at the top of the waitlist and you have a good chance. so dont loose hope. i know someone who heard back in july and was taken off the wait list!

^thanks a lot appreciate it

Has anyone accepted for the Fall 2011 semester received their financial aid awards as well?

Has anybody received any info regarding orientation for fall 2011 yet?

Not yet...I may have to withdraw my acceptance based on the financial aid received tho =/

Are there any commuters from the Hartford Area? I just got into the school and am not looking forward to the drive. I have looked at Amtrack and they have a commuter train that could get me to bridgeport by 8 am. The pass costs 579 for 30 days and you can get a 15% student discount. I would like to hear from anyone who might be commuting from hartford and your ideas, plans?

I'm commuting from the Hartford area (Bristol) and will hopefully be doing day's

When is everyone's orientation date? I received June 22nd.
