BHSN: Applying to Bridgeport Hosp for Fall 2013

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Hi All,

I thought I would start a new topic for those of us who are planning to apply to BHSN's Nursing program for the Fall 2013.

I will get things started with my stats (which aren't great...but not too terrible!):

TEAS - 78% (planning to re-take)

GPA - 3.2 (currently)

I also applied to GWCC and Southern, so hopefully I will get into one of these programs!

Hi everybody! I sent my app to BHSN on the last day possible! (Feb, 1st) and I got my acceptance letter last monday - Mar, 4th :)

So Happy!!!! :) I'm still taking CHE 111 at NCC, and I plan on taking A&P I and II during Summer at Housatonic.

Congrats to everybody who got accepted! :)

Hope to meet you guys soon!

Viv

Oops, made a mistake! My status changed in December to "Under Review" and I got my acceptance letter on January 18th.

I have already got my acceptance letter, but my status online still "under review" So I guess they dont aways update it.

Good luck to all of you! I recently graduated in December

Congrats on the graduation!!!

Tell us how did you like the program, please? :)

Did you work at all during the program?

Unfortunately I can't afford to stop working completely... reduced hours, yes! but no work at all wont be possible :( I hope it is possible to do it this way!

Thanks! :)

I did the accelerated program and I worked the whole time. In January for 104 (first med surge) I cut down my hours to 24 a week but I was able to maintain that for the most part, it wasn't easy. Also I wasn't an A student, I had 2 As and the rest solid Bs and B+s. its a tough program at times can be frustrating but they are making improvements and for the most part the instructors are great esp the new ones. I really only had major complaints about 1 but its what you make of it. The clinical experience is irreplaceable and one of the best things about BHSN. There is a thread which is very detailed about scheduling, books, etc one of my classmates made

By the way thank u and good luck to all accepted and those waiting. Those who didn't get in don't give up on your dreams.

Thank you HighlyBlessedRN for your feedback. We appreciate it. :)

I feel like there sending out all accepted first then unaccepted, I'm trying to stay positive but its so hard!

Thank you HighlyBlessedRN! :)

If you don't mind me asking you, did you work on the healthcare field before/during school? If not, when did you get a job on the field?

Thanks again! :)

I worked in healthcare before and during school. During school I worked in a hospital. When i graduated with my bachelors i worked for a private dr, before moving to the hospital setting.

No problem Marcus and goodluck wannab. I don't think they do it that way, knowing them they are probably still reviewing

HighlyBlessedRN are there any books or references that you would suggest reviewing before starting the program. I was thinking about trying to learn some relevant vocabulary and starting to practice the medication math before starting. Any advice would be appreciated

If u have to do anything i would review math. There is a math assignment assigned before school starts. If u can i would go over a&p now just so u can have a strong foundation for 104 (1st med surge) in january. We lost a lot of students in that course. Other than that 101 and 102 are easy basic things u don't need to review ahead of time. Best wishes
