Hey everyone:
During nursing school I bought an allheart brand (cardiology) stethoscope. The sound quality is so poor that I can barely make out an S1, let alone crackles. I even paid to put my name on it.
For full disclosure, I did not immediately return it, as I was in an accelerated 1 year BSN, and figured I'd just put it bavk in the box, buy a different brand from a uniform shop (which i got a mfd that i still use) and contact them after the program (I didn't have time to eat lunch vs deal with returning a defective unit).
So I contacted them, and below is what I heard back:

I always miss out on stuff because of procrastination, but I suspect you would have had a problem with their customer service even if you had acted in a timely manner.

That stinks. Unfortunately most places won't take any returns that have been personalized or monogrammed. I've had hit or miss luck with allheart and think their shipping is ridiculous - I prefer amazon and they have a ton of nursing supplies plus good reviews so you know what you're getting. Sorry you wasted your money, but congrats on finishing your BSN. :)

Also, if you personalized it, that might be the reason they won't accept it back, since it can't be restocked.

That is the reason. I just checked because I'm placing an order there, and they specifically tell you that personalized items can't be returned unless the mistake was on their part (i.e., they misspelt what you typed). So even if you contacted them the day after you got the order, the return wasn't ever happening. Live and learn, unfortunately
At least you know to avoid this steth in the future...and besides, most nursing students like to reward themselves with a new steth after graduation that has "Nurse Name, RN" engraved on it.
