which is better? 2 or 4 year RN for SE MI

I also attend WCCCD,(Downriver Campus)and I heard that there is a waiting list for the Nursing program. About a 2-3 yr wait list for all of MI. Since you say that there isn't a waiting list for WCCCD, can you give me some info on their Nursing program? I missed the information meeting for this month. I am currently a full-time student taking my pre-req's. Any info will be helpful.Thanks!

Call your schools nursing department and ask them. That is the best way to answer questions to your concerns. I am a former student of WCCCD, to my knowledge there is not a waiting list there. They take an enormous amount of students compared to other colleges. 240 a year. Give them a call and ask though. That way it is coming from the schools information and not hear say from students. When I hear stuff from other people that is in a negative light, it is usually students who are not even in the program yet or have never applied to the program. The only thing with WCCCD is they are not accredited. Beware of that. Good luck.

They are accredited through Michigan BON. A few of us have called local hospitals to see what they expected as far as accreditation goes and they all have said that as long as it is accredited by the BON and a higher education accrediting agency then they will accept grads. They did lose their NLN accreditation for high NCLEX fail rate mainly due to the math dosage calculations. They have revised their entire program and have added a math requirement and we believe they will try to get that accreditation back. However, there is other CC's in Michigan that arent NLN accredited one being a pretty highly respectable school in SE Michigan. I am risking it right now because it is my only option both financially and time wise, however, I do plan on continuing my education immediately after graduation with a RN to BSN bridge program so I am not too worried about where I obtain my ADN from. Besides, if they didnt have some form of accreditation the BON wouldnt allow grads to sit for the NCLEX and WCCCD is clearly listed as one of their approved nursing programs. I will find the website and post in tomorrow. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Its tough out there so look at all your options. :)
