Hi! I was wondering if there was anyone here who has applied and accepted an interview with Bethel University for their Nurse-Midwifery program in 2022 (:

I think everyone has a different way of learning so for me it was a bit harder than I initially thought it would be. I am older and have been out of school for quite some time so it was an adjustment getting back into the swing of things. I will say finding study buddies has helped me tremendously. I will do a zoom meet up with 1 or 2 other classmates and go over each weeks content. That has helped me retain the information so much better since there aren’t too many lectures (depending on the class though). The first semester it was a struggle with time management in particular. I have a lot on my plate with my kids and working full time nights and I sacrificed a clean house and home cooked meals pretty often to keep up. Having a supportive family has been what has helped get me through big time!! I was looking forward to having the next couple months off but now I miss it and fear I’m going to forget everything I have learned (I’m sure I’ll be fine though). I hope this helps a little!!

@letsgauff Happy to share! Email me (see above post) if you have specific questions.
I chose parttime due to the need to work and be present as a mom during these years. Life isn't a race, though I used to think so! I've worked 15-30 hours a week during school - I have a few PRN gigs and teach a bit as adjunct faculty. Setting my own schedule has been valuable for me! Also, I'm divorced so every other weekend allows me solo time to study, work, etc.
However, the part-time program is still intense! Fall semester was a bit lighter workload than Spring due to fewer exams. I learned most in the most challenging courses (pharmacology, anyone?!) and have so enjoyed the journey! The courses all run on a weekly schedule which allows general flexibility for completing assignments when you have time. There are 2 full week-long breaks during each semester from coursework (when intensives are held - but there aren't intensives for the part-time track until year 2.
There is a lot of groupwork built into the courses, which I hated in undergrad but now fully appreciate the value of. All of my classmates are so amazing and committed - it's been rewarding to develop relationships and dig in to studying + projects together. I start clinical this coming Spring - which will be a whole new rhythm.
The year before starting the program, I spent a lot of time listening to podcasts with midwives' personal stories/career + school journeys. That was a great time investment for me in starting to shift my thinking and vision from nursing to midwifery. There are so many different ways and places to practice as a CNM! I'm excited!
Congrats and welcome to Bethel! I'm rooting for you!
@JennyBabyRN thanks so much for your insight . I’ve been so worried coming in as a nurse student. Though I don’t have little ones to balance I’ve been stressing about what the work load would be like and about finding a new sense of balance as I plan to also work while Im in the program.
@journeygirl hey thanks for elaborating on the first year courses. I’m the first semester did you find any particular course to require more time to prepare for ?
Hello. I'm new here, but how was the interview process for Bethel? How do you like the program? I want to apply, but I'm really nervous. I'm an older nurse with no L&D experience, but I have educated myself in the reproductive system and have witnessed/supported multiple births of family and friends over the years.

Congrats to all of you for applying and to those of you who were accepted! I also started the Bethel part-time track a year ago. I'm very happy overall with the program! I'm a single mom and work PRN inpatient + adjunct nursing faculty. I'd love to chat if you have questions!
