Good morning,
Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone else applied to Bethel University's Midwifery program for Fall 2021 and would love to find someone to share this journey with or locate someone with some insight into the program!

Mommy2sjb have you decided where you'd like to go? I accepted last week for the 2 year program (I think I'm out of my mind LOL but so excited).
That's so exciting! I did pay the deposit and accepted a spot in the 3 year program. However, I just received the welcome letter in the mail yesterday and there is a requirement to have 1 year RN clinical experience by the end of Bethel's first term, which I believe would be December. I am graduating this month and do not start my L&D job until this Summer and will not have the year experience by the required time frame the letter stated. So, I am questioning it because that piece of information was never disclosed to me throughout the entire process, nor do I see it on their website. I'm kind of upset about the lack of transparency already. I'll keep you all posted on what they say in response if it helps anyone else make a decision by the 15th.

Oh wow, I didn’t see that listed either. I am assuming they knew you were a student when they interviewed you, so it’s a little weird that would come up now. Hopefully, they can clarify for you. I will say the best thing about dealing with that school is they are so responsive!! The only other school I heard from when I was seeking information was University of Cincinnati, but unfortunately they don’t accept students from the state of R.I. where I'm from.
I felt very connected with the school during this process, which has lasted a whole year for me. I just missed the deadline last year, so I took my time and just completed my MAT testing in February (testing was on hold because of COVID). They did tell me that they would push my application through if I don’t get in and wanted to reapply, which is helpful. Hopefully you are still eligible for the program even without experience, best of luck!!

OK! So they got back to me and I'm fine. It's just listed in the letter to clarify for those who are planning to work as an RN during the program...they will have to have at least the year experience. Because I am working, she said I will complete that requirement during my time in the program and not to worry! Phew!! So glad I asked and didn't worry all day about it!

Oops, I meant for those who aren't planning to work during the program, they require 1 year RN experience by that time frame.

It’s official, I got accepted! I’m so excited!! I was thinking about the program all morning, and was wondering why I never received my waitlist letter in the mail. Ugh, I’m so nervous now !! I know this is going to be life changing, and I couldn’t be more excited and nervous at the same time. Looking forward to working with you all!!

That would be great! Let me know if you do!!
Hey everyone!! Just a couple of questions to those who are planning to attend the program in the fall…. I just tried ordering my books, and added everything that was “required” to my cart… there is a total of 9 books for the 3 classes I’m enrolled in, is that right ? And the total came to $922, eeeek! Did anyone order on Amazon? It seems like I could save a couple hundred dollars doing it that way. I was going to email Kasin, who is covering Kari while out on maternity leave, about it, but I have a feeling she will say it’s recommended to use their bookstore. Thanks again…. Jennifer

I haven't looked at the textbook requirement yet but I've always used Amazon or another textbook service and not the school bookstore because it is so pricey. Hope that helps!

Hi congratulations on being accepted!! How exciting ..... I’m hoping that I get a spot, but if not, that’s what the cards had for me and I will try again next year. I would love to hear sooner rather than later, since I have 4 kids and it would make things much easier so we could plan. Kari is out for the Summer so another recruiter is covering her until then. I feel like a crazy person because I keep checking my phone for a missed call, LOL. If I don’t hear back in the next couple of weeks, I’m going to reach out again and see if anyone can provide feedback to make my application a little better. Maybe take a masters level course, or become NCC certified or something like that. All the best to you in your journey!!
