I'm just wondering if any of you can give advice on the best way to improve my employment prospects for when I graduate.
I'm in my first year at uni, and have spent various periods doing volunteer work. A year or so at a drop-in centre for immigrants, two years in search and rescue (with my dog), and about a year with the local ambulance service (I have my BLSD and PTC certificates).
I left the ambulance service because I didn't like our particular group, but I don't rule out going back to another group (there are various ones in my area).
In a week or so I have an interview with the local Civil Protection; again it would be with the K9 group for search and rescue work.
What kind of things do employers look for when hiring? Any other ideas of things to boost employment chances?
TIA!! :heartbeat

I would definitely recommend that you get an externship or get a student nurse job at a hospital, volunteer and become a member of a health affiliated organization
Thanks for your reply, Nurzelady.... unfortunately here in Italy students can't work in a hospital in a clinical capacity... you even need to do a course to be a nurse's aide (1 year course!!)!
The only way to get clinical experience is with the ambulance service, really...
