Best travel nurse company?

Published

Specializes in ICU.

Hi!

I was wondering what you feel the best travel nurse company is? What qualities/benefits should I be on the look-out for? I think I want to start travel nursing next year.

Benefits: retirement, health insurance, vacation

Malpractice coverage

should I carry my own malpractice coverage?

wages?

housing allotment?

etc.

Thanks!

I would like to know also. I am doing a lot of research before I take my first assignment. So far I like access nurses. Go to accessnurses.com, they have the TV for RN's.

I was told to call travel companies that you are interested in and compare their benefits. I was also told to try calling the hospital that you would like to work for and ask what travel company they frequently use. Usually it is because they had great experiences with that specific travel agency. I chose the agency I am in now only because a friend recommended it.

send away...just cleared my mailbox...thanks!!

Right now I am looking into the following companies who I have not heard anything negative about yet from many nursing postings from different forums:

IPI

RNNetwork

AdvantageRN

ACCESSNURSES

Bridgestaffing

These seem to be reputable companies. I am in the process of interviewing them, researching them, and comparing benefits with general overall attitude toward me right now. If there is anyone out there who can tell me more about these companies, please do. To the nurses who have posted asking advice, I would check these people out. But please.... from personal experience...stay away from Supplemental Healthcare.

My contract was cancelled by the hospital I was working for last week. A fairly new staff nurse at the hospital was in some trouble for not infusing calcium gluconate into a patient on day shift with a critical Ca+ level. I had to fix that. A very rude physician came to the floor and was so verbally abusive to me regarding the issue and blaming me for this day shift nurse's negligence that the onlooking staff nurses wrote him up and turned him in for his behavior. The next day I got a call from my company stating my contract had been cancelled. First, they lead me to believe I would be placed at another hospital. The following day, Supplemental Helthcare terminated me as an employee.

Supplemental did not even research the incident fully with the hospital. The physican tried to claim I hung the wrong maintenece fluid on a patient. I know good and well I hung the correct one.

Ladies and gentlemen, read your contracts carefully before u sign them. Mine read that Supplemental can terminate you at the request of the client (the hospital) at which you are providing services. Be careful. Your company CANNOT go into a hospital and pull records to see that you are telling them the truth about your side of what happened. Be aware of this. Your company can decide to take the word of the hospital, even like in my case.... when it was a false report.

Calling all travelers out there.... what is the real reputation of supplemental healthcare out there in the travel nurse community? After I was terminated, I have begun to hear some very disappointing things. Help me if you can!!!

Nurses posting on this site.... stay away from Aureus. I met 2 travelers out here on assignment wanting desperately to leave due to being shafted with pay and having an absentee recruiter. This also happened to me at Supplemental. Take care, good luck fellow nurses.
