Hello everyone. I recently got hired at my local hospital as a critical care partner, same as patient care tech just on the critical care floor. In 2013 I broke my ankle in 3 places and dislocated it. It had gotten really better but I noticed when I stand and walk on it for a long period of time it swells up and feel stiff to the point I can barely walk ! Ankle braces don't help at all.
Anybody else have a similar situation and what do you guys suggest i do. Which shoes are best also ?

You should probably discuss this with your healthcare provider. They can make further recommendations such as seeing a podiatrist/foot & ankle specialist for prescription devices or other remedies. I'm nowhere near in the same boat, but when my plantar fasciitis would act up, I'd have trouble walking. Got sent to a podiatrist and fitted for custom orthotics as well as a steroid injection- best thing that ever happened to me.
Thanks I'll look into that

Have you tried a boot that laces/zips securely around the ankle?
No the only boot I wore was the huge one when I first broke my ankle

Before you waste a lot of money of new shoes I would make an appointment with a good foot and ankle specialist. They can customize an orthotic and recomend the right shoe to wear with it. You might also try Vitamin D and Fish oil supplements as both have powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
