Best phone for nursing school??

Published

I read on the nursing school forum that everyone preferred the iphone for their school phone. T-mobile just nixed their contracts (YES!) and so I am eligible to get a new phone!!

I initially wanted a Samsung Galaxy S, but since everyone was saying the iPhone is better should I just go with that? What is it about the iPhone that makes it better than the others for school?

Or is it just smartphones in general.

Playstore has a lot of nursing apps as well. Android models have larger screens which would be useful for ebooks. iPhones, in my opinion, are overrated. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and it performs 100x better than the iPhone I had before it.

Honestly, I never even use my phone for school. I use handouts and my books, and sometimes youtube for extra info. No fluff. I have enough to keep up with in the required materials! I have an android and I like it. I have a few apps, like epocrates, that can be helpful, but not because it's on an android or iphone. No app has ever helped me with grades...only been there for when I'm curious about something. Google would work for that just as well. I wouldn't pick a phone based on which is best for school because I don't think it matters. :)

Makes sense. I just want to be as prepared as possible, even down to my phone! lol. But if it doesn't matter then I'll just get the phone I want. There were just so many people praising the iPhone specifically I was wondering what it was all about. Thanks!

I have the Droid Razr. We used our phones in school a lot. Our school purchased the Nursing Central app for us to use and it was extremely helpful and used a lot! I also tend to agree that the iPhone is overrated. I like my huge screen and my phone has gorilla glass which is practically indestructible, whereas the iPhone screen shatters if you drop it. My two oldest kids have iPhones and have cracked and/or shattered their screens more than once just simply falling on the floor.

I also want to add that I still use my Nursing Central app on my phone at work to look up meds, disease processes, lab values etc. I'm a new grad with my first job and only been off orientation a couple weeks...so I use it as a resource a lot!

My iPhone has been a lifesaver for me because I use the calendar feature, which syncs with my Macbook, and also I have this nifty little homework app. If you like Apple products, I'd suggest going with the iPhone. If you prefer Android/Windows, then go that route. My boyfriend has an Android and loves it, but I prefer my iPhone.

I use a droid, easy to use and people can upgrade their own NCLEX reviews on the store for free. Theres hundreds of them, and ebooks are easy to access. Plus the fact that the phones are tough is great. You drop your iphone and the screen breaks your out of luck and a few hundred dollars. Androids usually have gorilla glass screens or plastic so you drop it and it walks away just fine.

iPhone is the way to go...I had an Android phone before my iPhone and it ran apps horribly. iPhones run very fast, everything looks clean and organized on the screen. I LOVE my iPhone! I could also see the Galaxy being a good one too. Big screen, good operating system...
