I have a previous BS in Pathobiology, but a low GPA and limited funds. My ultimate goal is to do travelling/ wilderness/ expedition/ disaster Nursing. In your opinion, what is a better route to an RN?
1. Pay to get pre reqs done, get an Associates Degree, get an RN
2. Join the Army as a 68-C reservist, get an LPN, do an LPN> RN program
I'm 28, single, able to relocate easily, in decent physical shape. Having a hard time determining if the Army will provide what I need to advance my skills versus what I will give up to them.

How low is your GPA? Have you talked to a recruiter yet regarding the 68C pathway?

Hey I am in the same position . Please let Have so many questions can you email me [email protected]
I have not- not sure if the 68c or 68w would offer a better chance at a BSN...
68W will only give you an EMT-Basic cert. 68C is an LVN, so a nurse. 68W won't be much help.

That plan may be the cheapest, but it will definitely take you the longest. If it were me, I would just go into debt with loans. I would do the pre-reqs and work full-time. Then do loans for 2-years of nursing school as a civilian.
Otherwise, you might very well have to serve 2-4 years as an enlisted medic before you have the opportunity to even apply, much less start, the enlisted commissioning program to become an RN.
