Hi! I just got accepted into nursing school. They are requiring the shoes to be all white, non porous, with a back. You're probably thinking that there are many shoes that fit that, but! I wear a size 12-12.5 Wide shoe. This is my issue. I am willing to dish out as much money as needed to find the perfect shoe but I don't want to settle. I want that comfy nursing shoe(dansko, etc.) but dansko doesn't carry my size. Does anyone out there have or has had the same issue and has any suggestions or solutions? Thanks!

Have you tried New Balance?

I went to a local shoe store (the old-fashioned kind, not a Payless or DSW type) and got measured. Then they brought out their most popular "ugly nursing shoes" in my size. (I have the opposite of your problem -- very short foot, but wide and also thick in the arch.)
One shoe felt good on my foot, but rubbed a bit on my ankle. I told the salesman about it, he put in some little foam wedges under the insole, and the problem was gone.
These are the only footwear in my life I've spent more than $100 on (most of my shoes cost less than $30!), but I have NEVER had sore feet at the end of the day wearing these.
I highly recommend going to an old-fashioned shoe store -- they are the ones that know about work shoes and foot shape.

What about using men's size shoes for dansko? I would go into an actual store if possible to try them on. It took about 3 weeks for my Danskos to be comfortable. I had to adjust to wearing them.
