I know this has been discussed before but I'm not finding it in the search.

What do you think is the best nursing magazine journal besides Nursing2004 (I get those free at school)???

AJN all the way. RN isn't too shabby either.

I just subscribed to the AJN. A friend of mine who is an RN recommended it.

Specializes in Emergency Dept, M/S.

We're required to sub to Nursing2004, but I also get Nursing Made Incredibly Easy (good for students, but it's not a monthly - only 6x/year, but also has no advertisements to wade through) and RN. I don't understand a lot of the articles yet, but it's amazing that I can read some of them now and DO get a lot of what is going on!

I wish we got N-2004 for free. Stupid me subbed before school started, so I didn't even get the student rate!

I wish we got N-2004 for free.

Just to clarify, we don't actually get it for free as a subscription, but there is usually a stack of extras by our mailboxes for students who want them.

Is AJN monthly? Anyone know how much $ offhand?

According to their website, it's $29.95 per year.

You can request a free copy of the AJN on this page:

You might want to check around at your clinical site, though, because I took an AJN postcard off of a bulletin board at a local hospital that offered a free issue plus a year-long subscription for $19.95.

Good luck! :)

thanks for the info! :)

In my opinion for your money you can't beat Nursing 2011 with the most up to date studies, I read it through school and still read it monthly to keep me up to date.

Specializes in Hospital Education Coordinator.

RN and Nursing 2011 are not juried, which means they only have to meet the criteria of their editors. I subscribe to both. My preference for a juried periodal is the one I receive thru my membership in ANA. But then, the ANJ is another juried periodical with excellent nursing research and "news you can use".
