i'm not quite there yet but i heared a lot of my friends say kaplan and saunders are really good and they all passed! ask around; try different books see which one works and remember what may work for someone else may not work for you and vice versa....although i've heard that if you can pass kaplans review your chances of passing is very good. still and all, find what works for you. good luck to you whatever you choose!!! don't worry you'll do just fine......

I used the Saunders 4th edition (It is a blue book), and the EXAM cram RN book that is put out by Pearson vue, this has a simulated CAT adaptive test on the CD that is just like boards. It tells you the areas you are weak in, I think both are great I would do both.

I took the Kaplan course, and found it to be good in explaining the thinking behind the test and in giving test questions which were more difficult like the NCLEX (Not exactly). However, the subject review was very poor, so I bought the Saunders book which I found much more comprehensive and helpful to actually review. The questions at the back of each chapter were much easier/obvious compared to what was really on the NCLEX, but they checked for recall and understanding. There was a lot of detail in the Saunders book, and it took me a month to get through it. Some of my classmates and I also paid for the online access to the NCBSN review modules and the questions ($50 for 3 weeks) which were very difficult, and since they were put out by the people who wrote the test were most like the exam. Just don't do what I did and start them as a post-test on the day before the exam because they destroyed my confidence and made me question myself at the last moment. Despite the stress, it worked out ok because I passed at 75 questions.
Good luck.
thanks very much so what is the website for the NCBSN review modules

I used the NCLEX Made Easy book from the Made Easy series. It was pretty good, not too deep, just enough to give you an understanding. It came with a CD of questions so my NCLEX review consisted of me reading the book cover to cover and around 150 questions a day for one month. I did read a Kaplan review book for technique and I felt pretty prepared on the day of. I think the key is the practice questions. Good Luck!

I used Kaplan to learn the process of figuring out questions and the Mosby's web site for computer adaptive testing (same as NCLEX). It cost $39 for one month and a class mate used it when I finished and she passed the second time around. She failed the first time because she was under a lot of stress (she had to have surgery for cancer).

I used Saunders review book, and reviewed alot of my own notes for subject matter. I know some of my peers took the Kaplan review, some found it very helpful, others didn't. I think it's good for learning 'how' to get the rationale of the questions, but not so much for subject review, which Saunders does. But the Saunders CD questions are also helpful to understand the rationales, since they explain it.
Do as many questions as you can before the test.
