best hospital to work for in Washington state

What do you guys think are the best hospitals to work in as an RN here in Washington?

There are none.....hospitals are all the same in Western WA.....bottom line is PROFIT to any hospital and to get the most work out of a nurse and staff in the cheapest way possible. This means you work hard, burn out and move on. I have been doing med/surg for 18 years at area hospitals in Western WA. All are the same. New grads burn out in two to four years now. Most are moving on and without regret. They are burning out. Management does not care either. There will be another nurse along shortly to fill the spot. The bottom line is to have any body in a position and the paperwork filled out so as not to upset JCAHO during review. Hospitals will only take notice when other hospitals snatch their business away and cannot figure out why. Nurses spend 24 hours with patients. Doctors are done when the incision is closed. They stop by each day trying to figure out when the patient can vacate the bed. Hospitals are a business and all are the same no matter where you go!

i guess it depends upon what you're looking for. what are you looking for? magnet hospital? union? non union? small community hospital? big university teaching hospital? an er where you're likely to see all kinds of interesting stuff? transplants? oncology? cardiac surgery? peds?

Most Western WA hospitals are awesome in my opinion. Seattle is a great place to work as a nurse in a hospital. There are people that complain but in my opinion, nurses in other states have it a LOT worse.

i have heard uw is the best hospital to work at from many different people and thats simply because it is a teaching hospital, and the nurses actually care and love what they do.

How about eastern WA? I am looking to move in that area (Walla). I am in IN right now. I guess the specialty does not matter.

i worked at deaconess medical center in spokane, and loved it. i'm not aware of any hospitals in walla walla -- we got a lot of walla walla inmates in spokane. if you're interested in corrections nursing, though, that might be someplace to try. a good friend of mine just got a job at the king county jail and she loves it there. she says there is life after the icu!

I've heard to avoid Sacred Heart in Spokane. Their staffing sucks. Memorial in Yakima also really skimps on staffing with nurses on med-surg being required to have 10 pts. I don't want to divulge where I work, but it's pretty good, inspite of having the most loathed DNS around.

One gal where I live commutes to Swedish and she loves it. She informs me their staffing ratios are good. We have good ratios where I work.
