Hello Nurses!!
I am a student interested in emergency nursing. I would like to subscribe to an emergency nursing journal, do you have any suggestions on who's the best?
-Thank you!!

Journal of Emergency Nursing through the Emergency Nurses Association. Very clinical and dry, but always seems to address some problem current in whatever ER I'm working in. Also has sample questions from the BCEN exam, the "Trivial Pursuit" of Emergency Nursing.
Thanks for the prompt reply!! I was hoping someone would say this one, because they have a student discount!!

Yep -- the Journal of Emergency Nursing is fabulous, and you can access its contents online as well -- invaluable for doing ED-related research!

There is no perfect journal out there.
Think outside the box some. Look at the Critical Care Journals as well. There are also so a few international journals. As journals go JEN is only so so. ENA doesn't have the deep pockets that other organizations do. It's an ok journal but it's just that OK. It really doesn't matter because you need to be a member of ENA anyway and JEN comes automatically.
Don't forget the non specialty nursing journals also. AJN, Nursing, and my favorite, Nursing made easy. Good for fast review and updates of medical conditions. And if your Hosp has MD Consult or something like that. Read the MD journals also. If you've got an area that you like to specialize in, then that is a way to deepen your knowledge, I.E. trauma, cardiology, pads things like that.

Don't worry about the $$$ because I haven't paid for the MD journals in ages. The hops has them and I can get access online through the hops intent.
Great info. Thanks!!
