i just quickly scanned the questions but there are 3 that popped out that are incorrect.

epogen is used to stimulate red blood cell production

ringing of the ears isn't a adverse reaction to lanoxin but anorexia (lack/loss of appetite) is

cardiac arrest (and any other injury/illness/disease) always remeber your abc's (airway breathing circulation) !! always, always, always. you would insure an open airway before anything. what good will cardiac monitoring do if the pt isn't breathing?

for dvt's i would assess the legs for

1> pain/ tenderness in the calf

2> swelling (increase in circumfrance in the calf)

3> redness and warmth in the calf

Thanks alot CT Pixie...

ABC... I would never forget it :D

Thanks again... I am feeling cofortable now!

a) clear yellow output

b) cloudy output

c) patient complaint of slight cramping

d) a drain output of 50cc less than instilled

i was thinking cloudy appearance because that could be peritonitis which always seemed to be a huuuuuuuuuge deal with my professors :)

[color=#333399]- [color=#22496e]which of the following findings would a nurse identify as indicative of septic shock in a patient?

a) bradycardia

b) flushed appearance

c) cool, clammy skin

d) s3 gallop

i thought cool and clammy but didnt look that up anywhere. edit: i looked up my old notes and you are right because with septic shock there is widespread vasodilation = flushed appearance in my book. i think the cool, clammy is a teaser because most other shocks have that textbook sx.

good luck. it is really nice that your school is doing this to help you think about these types of nursing school exam questions.
