Best & Worst Floors to Work On

Published

Hi Everyone -

I was just curious what floors does everyone think is the best to work on and what is the worst, and why?

Specializes in Telemetry/Cardiac Floor.

I must say I don't like working Renal. Apparently a lot don't in our area because it is the shortest staffed floor in the hospital.:(

Specializes in NICU.

I work on a renal floor. They can be a very difficult population to work with but I do find them challenging. They are often very very sick with high infection rates and comorbidities. I just depends on what you like.

Specializes in Peds (previous psyc/SA briefly).

Administration. Definitely. :D

Specializes in CCU, SICU, CVSICU, Precepting & Teaching.

best place to work is somewhere the patient population interests you and the co-workers are pleasant to work with, helpful and good teachers. so the "best unit" will vary every place you go, usually by the strengths of the manager.

Specializes in Paediatric Cardic critical care.

I'm of course bias but I would say cardiothoracic critical care!

I like the pace of new cases coming through straight from theatre, and discharging them to the ward the next day, i like the techniqualities of it, i like open chest emergencies in the middle of the night... i also like our longer term patients who become more like general intensive care patients... i find it really intersting, with a lot of like minded people, lots of oppertunities... :)
