I am starting my second semester of nursing @ BCC, I took the accuplacer and it wasn't bad. The writing section is the only section that is timed, our topic was really general, I can't remember the exact topic, but it was easy to think of things to write about. Just brush up on sentence structure and punctuation, it's not really what you write about but how you write, content is not judged but punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure is graded. Like you need to know when to start a new paragraph and stuff like that...
Remember to have a beginning, middle, and end....
Don't sweat it, the entrance exam isn't really too bad. Just review basic math and algebra, I started reading more to increase my reading comprehension because I am not a good reader.
Good luck!
Thank you so much for replying. i was waiting for it. I felt more secure the fact that i know the topics are general and not about nursing, that also gave me an idea where to focus on. thank you so much and god bless!
By the way since we are in the same school and in the same major we can meet sometimes and have some talks about nursing, if you don't mind ok
let me know ok

Just-a-little-FYI....if-you-do-get-accepted,there-are-some-things-they-require-of-you-like-getting-professional-liability-insurance,purchasing-a-Nursing-kit,having-a-criminal-background-check....I-wasn't-expecting-all-of-these-things-and-it-is-an-additional-expense....so-set-aside-some-extra-cash-so-that-you-are-prepared!!!

There was not an essay when I took the NET to get into BCC in 2004. I am not sure if it changed but it was just math, reading rate, reading comprehension, stress level, learning style, and test taking skills. I think that is it if I can remember.
Thanks for replying :) but a friend from my sociology class took the test last nov, and told me that the test is Math and Reading comprehension and an essay that you have to choose. they problably changed it. It's ok, but i know i cannot write an essay in 30 mn. what can i do i gotta go through it anyway right...
thanks again!

faralabella- go to the testing center and ask for a list of websites to help you prepare for the accuplacer. also go and see the nursing advisor, she gave me some really helpful tips on getting into the program at bergen. just be prepared to wait at least one hour to see her. she is the on certain days,so call the advisement office to confirm.
also, be aware that admission is based on the accuplacer test. as long as you have the minimum gpa (i think a 2.7, check on that) you will be able to sit for the test. then they go down the list of scores, from highest on down to fill the seats for the class. this is what is was told by the advisor.
I am still in the midst of my prereqs so i will not be applying until the fall of 2006. good luck to all!
Thank you Olivia28! it feels good to know there are people like you willing to share advice with one another.
God bless!

Definitely check out those websites, they were a great help. One of the math practice questions was on my accuplacer exam. I could dig out the list, if you can't get the information. Also, my essay question was something like "Year Round School vs. the Traditional School Year (with summer break), which is better and why?" Other people had "The Best Career for YOU and why?" All the essay questions were set up so you could have and introduction, a body that supported your main points, followed but a closing. It didn't matter which side you chose, they just want to see if you could write an essay. I am in my first semester (nights). Good luck, hope to see you in the Nursing hallway SOON!:roll
