Bergen CC Fall 2013 Program

Published

Hey guys,

I saw that there was no post for our group so I decided to create on. How is everyone doing with their Hesi? Also, is someone who is accepted into their program declines admission, do they open up a spot for someone else?

Thank you so much kaitlynelisabeth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course!! It's no problem at all. I know I had so many questions and was very curious so I am happy to help you with anything. Hopefully this

time next week I can say I'm officially a level 2 student. Please feel free to ask away.... If I don't know the answer I can get you to a student or Professor in the nursing department who will know the answer. Hopefully I can be the resource for you that I didn't have. I was a nervous wreck worried about health forms, due dates, uniforms, textbooks, and the rumors of the "failure percentage". Not true the professors are more than willing to help and if you try hard and study hard you can do it. Basically if you want it bad enough, you can do it and yes you can still have a life. Just time manage well. Remember that all of your study guides, note cards and materials are going to be your foundations for your nclex study prep so be organized. For those super OCD organizers like myself don't bother with a binder smaller than 5inches I just barely fit all of my fundamentals lectures and notes into a 5inch binder. The key is figuring out "how" to answer the questions read the rationales look and see why your answer wasn't the right one. We are in our final stretch two finals to go!

I had a wonderful experience in level 1 it will be a little more official once these finals are over. I have met an amazing group of motivated, driven students and created a great study group. Just find people that push you. You need to stay head over heels in love with nursing and it can be hard to love 50 chapters but with the right people you will the professors are wonderful you will know every professor the levels they teach and where they work within the first week. I loved my clinical group, and my clinical instructor was everything and anything I hope to be as a RN. Be proud of yourself! Getting in is not easy!

what section is everybody in? I registered for section 1. also, do we wear white scrubs for clinicals?

White scrubs small circular Bergen patch on left shoulder name tag clips on lots of pockets buy two sets of uniforms you may have wed thurs clinical and trust me at 11pm you don't want to do a load of laundry get the jacket they recorded its a lab jacket but short with snaps go to the uniform place they custom fit you, you wait twenty min. And walk out with your uniforms same day. All in the info packet they are picky about shoes so get the real nursing shoes and break them in I didn't and oops big error

The information packet I received via mail doesn't say anything about textbooks, uniform nor medical kit, and this is only info packet I got:no:. So thank you so much for discussing about the textbook and uniform, otherwise I ended up having no clue at the orientation or worst case scenario, not able to attend fall program due to unprepared. I feel like I dodge the bullet. I will ask for another info packet which contain those notices.

And I need ten textbooks for three classes:wideyed:!? I guess this is perfect time to say "bring it on!!"

Hmm... I believe the packet I got in the mail in December when I got accepted had a check list which had CPR certification due dates, medical forms due dates, validation kit order form, uniform information/location and some deadlines and other important FYIs... I am an evening program student and we did get a new Dean so I am not sure if things are getting a little shaken up or if I'm jumping the gun. Happily reporting I passed two of my three level one classes with flying colors! Pharmacology on Monday. I am so excited for you guys and love your energy. Check out the website on Bergen for nursing see if they have posted a fall 13 packet yet cannot wait to report to all of you and any stranger or random person I see that I passed level one! (Hopefully) can't count my chickens before they hatch

Thank you pleasegod. This is exactly what I need:up:. Hope this link help other students who are having same issue.

Omg, thankyou SO MUCH for bringing this info packet topic up. I actually thought that this info wouldn't even be available to us until Orientation; I would've been caught SO off guard! I just downloaded the more detailed Student Packet thanks to pleasegod posting the link.

Thanks to everybody on this forum for being so helpful!

How many male students are usually in each section? I'm guessing it's not a lot, since the nursing department always address me as Ms. I do know that instructors and female students will treat male students equally with respect. But I'm just wondering how are patients in the clinic react to male student nurse?

Having worked in a LTC facility for the past few months, I can say that generally there is little difference in the way patients interact with male nurses as opposed to female nurses. Expectations may be different; people expect guys to perform more of the heavy lifting. A few of the residents may be hesitant to males. We must always respect cultural customs. Act like a professional and people will respect you and the care you provide. Patients generally don't have issues with male doctors because they carry authority. This program is preparing you to be a clinical expert. So be confident in your work; patients and co-workers will learn to appreciate your contribution and respect you as an individual and not some strange rare bird coming to defile them lol.
