Could you explain what you mean by "benefits"?

Are you talking about health insurance?

Are you talking about working for a hospital or a MD office?

Every place is different.

You need to ask the facility.

Benefits vary greatly from facility to facility.

well, in a hospital setting, is health insurance is paid 100%, pension plans 401k etc...

in my experience, the health insurance is crap. I've worked for two hospitals. For a family, I've paid $170 or $195 every 2 weeks. After that there is a $500 deductible per person (up to $1000 max). After the deductible is met, insurance paid 70% and I paid 30%. Ridiculus if you ask me. I no longer have insurance through the hospital, but through my husband's work instead because it is so much better.

There aren't many facilities nowadays that pay 100% of your insurance. But most do offer insurance that you help pay for. We have the option where I work of purchasing health, dental, vision, short and long-term disability.

Benefits in SWF have gotten worse in my opinion. We used to have really good coverage $100 co pay and then 100% cover in any of our hospitals. Now it's $250 deductible and we have to pay 20% of all testing costs labs, xrays, MDs, etc. On the plus side, (sarcastic) they now offer us car insurance thorugh our system. We are also penalized if our spouse have access to insurance through their work... if they have insurance offered but choose to go on the hospital plan we have to pay $50 more a pay preiod on top of the family plan cost. They do call and check on spouse insurance availability to verify if you told the truth.

As previously said, benefits vary greatly from facility to facility. You need to contact the facilities that you wish to work at for accurate information.

Almost no one these days, covers health insurance 100%, and if you are insuring more than yourself, (such as dependants) the rates can be high. Usually the fees for yourself are minimal. Coverage varies, usually good for your own facility with increased cost for using outside providers.

Most have pension plans and many match funds. Again, there are better benefits to working for larger companies, generally.

Others may have direct deposit, bank deals with lower fees, health club discounts, credit unions, etc. Most pay for some paid time off, but again varies depending on facility. Some pay better shift differentials than others and some pay time and half for holidays while others do not. Some facilities pay time and half for any hours over 8 worked in a shift and others do not.

Which all comes back to the original answer. You need to ask the area facilities where you wish or anticipate working. Many will have a packet of info for prospective employees that details these.
