And stay away from the MRI machine.Seriously though, I remember following a patient to MRI for a new experience during clinicals. You would not want to forget you had the piercing in MRI. (No, I don't have a piercing, the thought just came to mind.)
Not all belly button rings are metal.
I have had a belly ring in for 7 years, never had a problem. Hopefully you are wearing scrub shirts that are long enough so it doesn't show when you reach up or anything
Clean it with witch hazel, it helps the healing process. My DD covered hers with a 2x2 gauze when she went to the nursing home for her volunteer work, then it wouldn't snag when she was helping people. And stay away from the MRI, they make you take out anything that is metal unless you absolutely know what it is made of.

I just got my belly button pierced Saturday and how clinicals would affect it never even crossed my mind until afterwards. Right now I'm only in my first year and were doing the basics like baths and stuff at a nursing home. My next clinical is march 12th so by that point it will have been about a week and a half since I got the piercing. Right now it's a little sore and I have to be careful when doing anything that causes my stomach to bend a lot. Do you think it'll be okay by my next clinical? I really don't want it to affect what I'm able to do there.
