Being accepted... Is it a sign?!?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

SOO I applied for an accelerated nursing program that incorporated the preqs I have left (a&p and micro). I've been waiting to hear back from them and decided today that maybe I should just take a&p with micro in the fall at my local community college and reapply for spring admission (so I knock a semester off of the tuition). I felt good about my decision and today, ironically, I get a phone call that I have been accepted into the program. There were over 400 applicants & I made it through the first round. I feel like it would be so stupid to give away my spot and take a chance to apply for spring instead knowing there's no guarantee ill be accepted again, but then again, I was accepted for a reason and others were denied for a reason. It appears more financially feasible to go to a comm college again where I can pay for the tuition out of pocket but I'm not opposed to taking out loans for the nursing program either because it's for my future and my passion of becoming an RN. So... Any opinions or advice would be AWESOME. Do I save some money by taking an extra semester at a comm college and reapply for the spring (giving away my position in the program now) or just jump the gun and celebrate and start the nursing program in the fall?!?

You also have to think about what the terms if your acceptance were... Meaning how many transfer students did they accept? How many do they wait list? You would have to call the school and explain your situation and ask how likely you would be accepted next round. Some schools don't like it when you decline acceptance and then reapply. Also if you call, the school might have some additional financial help they can offer you. It might take you years to get back in or you might even need to go to another college.

Is it possible to keep your spot in the Nursing program and still take your sciences classes at the CC and just have the credits transferred? If your going to have to take them along with your nursing classes anyways once in the program why not just do it that way, if it is an option?

If it were me I would do the accelerated program.... how do you know that you were not the last one accepted and next time there may be a better applicant... You can worry about the loans letter. Start the program while you know you can! ;-)

It seems like starting the program would be the obvious choice!!! And trust me I really want too!!! But I'm leaning towards the other options. I could literally save myself around 24,000 dollars. I understand taking out loans for school & my dream career would be worth it but when it's that much money I could save by waiting on more semester... It seems like the best decision, realistically. I'm gonna make the pre-enrollment appointment with an advisor from Chamberlain and let them know my reasonings!! It's not like I'm denying their program for another program, I really one to go there, but I my financial reasonings are very important when it comes to how im paying for school!!!
