Ok, I have a 3rd grader who has had what I consider to be "behavior issues" all year. It is one thing after another. Sleeping in class, refusal to eat, refusing to get up to go to the bathroom (Yep.. he has all of my extra pants now), refusing to do any sort of work what so ever. Some of the others in the building call him "unresponsive". I wouldn't go that far. It seems to me that he is not responding on purpose, not that he is unable to respond. Anywho... What involvement do you have with children with Behavior issues, such as these or ADHD, bipolar, Aspergers, autism... I can deal with the medical aspect of giving any medications needed, but after that, I just don't know what to do!

Has this child been evaluated for special ed services? Do you have any medical diagnosis that would explain this behavior? Sounds like a team approach is needed here--parents, teachers, administrators and nurse.
The only medical diagnosis that I have is ADHD. However the counselor has been told others as well... The whole team has been working together to try and figure it out. Special Ed is involved, but havnt really gotten anywhere.

The first thing I'd do is ask the parents to provide a few sets of clothing for him..

I'd tell the school counselor so she could get our behavior specialist involved. That's just me.
