a question for male nurses. what gives?
so hi i'm going to go into a tough accelerated bsn rn program and we just had our 1st of 3 "orientation" get togethers. and i knew the class was about 70 and thought there might be a couple cute girls....but holy cow just 6 guys 64 girls most were cute and like 30 were drop dead, stone cold gorgeous! it was almost laughable, now im not some horn-dog but it was hard for me to pay attenion to the speakers and former students. i could not consentrate with all these hot, educated, goal oriented women around me. now i'm a very respectful person and know we are all there for the same goal but here are my stats:
male, single, outgoing, nice guy, 24..handsome so i've been told. how the heck am i going to make it through this very challenging program when if it werent for that name tag i would have struggled with my own name. the lone male former student speaker said you'll have to be comfortable in your boxers with your partner for some procedures. you mean to tell me i'm going to be in my underwear with these women...technically studying? what am i supoosed to do? cold showers 24/7? its the best ..yet most terrible thing that can happen. i dont think i'm looking forward to the second orientation for the right reasons.

grow-up and understand that you are in class and not at the local bar. There is a time and place. These women my find you more attractive if you remain professional.
thanks...I know its not a bar...and its not about finding me attractive, I dont want that...I'm not trying to "hook up" with my classmates. I had to break up with my long-time girlfriend last month knowing she was too much of a distraction/stress for my career change. Call me nieve but the whole thing took me off guard. These were just my internal thoughts that I thought were appropriate for the male forum.

Hey, I can hear the conversation now-
"You don't really care about me, JurrasicNurse! You're just using me for my excellent study skills and exceptional writing abilities!"

JurassicNurse - a suitable name for one with a neanderthal mentality.

Kind of...
Like someone else said - there's a time and place. If all it takes is a pretty face to distract you then you might have trouble with more than just your challenging program.
It's called respect, and if you don't have it going into the program, you'll need to develop some PDQ. Your peer classmates will pick up on it, and with a small group of 70, so will the profs and this is something that will disadvantage you if they see immature behaviour.
If you're not looking to hook up, then no problem: FOCUS. It's a tough enough program without any type of unnecessary distraction. My thought is that once you get into it and see how much work there is to do, you'll be too busy for 'extracurricular' activities, anyway.
(on a personal note, I went into nursing knowing full well the exact same thing you are discovering and rather enjoyed being surrounded by young, attractive women. I ended up dating one during my second semester and we were married the year after grad - 19 years later we're still together and both still nursing)
Best of luck, caveman!

working in a female dominated world can have its merits... (even the juvenile, hormone-ravaged boy-slut kind)...
but...then you'lll marry one of these 'hotties'....and you'll soon find working with all these foxy-mommas can become less than satisfying to the male ego. unless you're prepared to become 'just one of the girls...'.
or...
you'll get used to it... once you get over your immature, less-than-ready-to-be-a-professional attitude.
and why did you post your stats? are you looking for a cyber-date?
you need to go study...and try keeping your tongue in your mouth.
