I am writing in hopes that someone may have some information on Beaumont Hospital's SICU, I believe there is more than one. Does anyone have a rough idea what they might pay a SICU RN with seven years experience???

I have a friend that had 10 years experience in SICU and paid about 30 bucks an hour. I believe the max pay is 35 bucks an hour.

Does that include shift differential? What is the shift differential? I am in between Beaumont and Henry Ford. How much do they pay in SICU at Henry Ford? How much is shift differential?

No it does not include the shift diff which is probably 2 bucks an hour. I think at henry ford the shift diff is 1.90 but comparably the weekend and midnight shift diffs are the same at both hospitals. Don't know what they RNs out at HF though I have a friend that just left Beaumont to work at Henry Ford and says she makes more at HF than at Beaumont. She has been a nurse for over 6 years.

Michigan RN thanks for all your info. Do you have any openings in SICU at HF. Who do I need to speak with if I want to come shadow? You know its only a matter of time before all the hospitals turn to some kind of professional ladder in regards to pay. I wonder if HF is going to head that ways soon? The thing about Beaumont is that its five minutes from my house. I am just looking for convenience, but at the same time want to transfer to a SICU that is as at least as good or better than the one I would be coming from. Thanks for your time.

I work at Troy, Beaumont.

At the end of July they gave us our yearly raise plus RN's received a house wide raise b/c Beaumont was not at a pay level as local hospitals.

Weekend shift differential is $2.00. Afternoon Shift differential is $2.00. I'm not sure what night shift differential is b/c I'm a day shift RN

Don't they have pay for performance at Troy? Because at Royal oak beaumont, they only give one raise a year based on your eval. I know you get another raise after you've worked there for two years. I know there are a lot of things that are done differently at Troy.

I just accepted position in Beaumont, Troy on Med-surg floor. They told me that I have to sign a 15 months agreement with them. I don't feel comfortable with that now after I have read these posts about Beaumont hosp. Including that nurses are leaving, they are short staffed etc.

Can someone that works in Beaumont please share some thoughts?

I have been working for Beaumont, Royal Oak for four months. I was a LPN for two years before graduating from my ADN program in August '08. Last Monday, my grandmother passed away. I checked with Employee Relations, and as a full-time employee I was entitled to three bereavement days. I went to work yesterday (I only took Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday off), with proper documentation of funeral attendance, and my manager accused me of "calling in" during the Christmas holiday! (By the way, I was scheduled to work Christmas and did not take this as a bereavement day, and I got placed "on call" due to overstaffing!) My unit is constantly overstaffed, and nurses are regularly placed "on call," so if I'm not needed that day, I either have to take time out of my bank for pay or not get paid for that day. My manager went on to say that "calling in" made things difficult for the other nurses. I understand that, but I found out on a Monday morning of my grandmother's passing, and there was not much I could due in regards to timely notification. Her blatant disregard for my recent loss has seriously made me think of looking at other hospitals. I want to be a OR nurse, and have heard that certain DMC facilities will train new grads.

Beaumont has a lot of great benefits and opportunities, but they do a lot of things differently there and after this, I am just not sure it is for me anymore. I went there with the intentions of working full-time, and even picking up overtime, and due to the recent financial difficulties, this is not happening. Any thoughts, or am I overreacting?
