BCIT September 2020 Intake

Updated:   Published

Is anybody applying to the Nursing program at BCIT?

Please discuss what type of marks you will be applying with and any other experience you'll be including with your application

Also, how is the Casper examination? Whats that process like?

Hi, I’m applying. I have a Health Science degree from SFU. I was accepted into the Foundations class at Douglas and will complete this in December. I’m also applying at Douglas, UBC as well as BCIT. Just hoping to get accepted somewhere.

Just did the CASPer! Good luck to all that are applying!

What's the CASPer exam like? Any tips?

Anyone get shortlisted and then waitlisted for April 2020? Not sure how to feel about the semi rejection. They say they resubmit your application for September intake for you, but what if you want to update it after a year goes by to increase your chances?

I would hope they would accept an addendum to the previous application, only seems fair. Have you applied before?

No this was my first try , so trying not to be too hard on myself!

what about you?

First time for me too. Fingers crossed it’s 1 & done for both of us ???. My CASPer appt isn’t until the end of November, hoping that goes smoothly. That is the last box to tick for all my applications and then we will see if I get in anywhere.

Hi everyone,

I am interested in applying to BCIT's nursing program as well. Can anyone tell me if they calculated GPA based on just the pre-req courses, or if they take into account the cGPA of your entire degree? I have not completed my undergrad degree (I'm about 30 credits away), but my cGPA for my degree is quite low (like really really low ? ) I'm just curious if everyone knows whether that will put me at a disadvantage? Or, do I still have just as much of a shot if I do really well in the pre req courses? Any help/insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Does anyone know how the application process works from here? I've read on past posts about a short list, what exactly is that?

Hi everyone ?

Has anyone received an update yet about their Casper results from the November test?

The short list is basically you survived the first round of cuts. So once you do the Casper they evaluate you results and they send letters to a bunch of people informing them they didn't get in. The remaining participants are shortlisted (about 180?) and then you do a questionnaire. Once that is completed they accept people I think its 62 per term. They then put people who they feel meet the requirements on a waitlist. The rest get letters they didn't get in. So then if you are top ten in the waitlist, if someone doesn't accept their spot for whatever reason their spot goes to the first on the waitlist ect. If your top ten and you don't get a spot you get a spot for the following term however if you are not top ten you have to reapply. I hope I got everything right!! Im top ten for april right now and from the april forum and emails from BCIT I believe this is accurate! Good luck everyone!!!!
