BCIT January 2018 Intake

Published

Hello everyone!

Now that the 2018 January applications are open, I thought that a thread should be started about it.

To those that are wondering, I'm applying with:

A&P 1 - A-

A&P 2 - A-

Psychology - A-

English - A-

Physics (elective 1) - A-

Philosophy (elective 2) - B

So, overall I'm applying with a 3.55 GPA. I have no previous degree, or relevant work experience. However, I do have relevant volunteer experiences.

I'm so nervous about my chances getting in. How are you guys feeling? What are your grades like?

Good luck to us all! :)

has anyone else gotten accepted but their application status still reads pending department review?

Yeah it still says pending department review

they've changed the application statuses!!

Im in the hold list too. And not in the Top 10. I wonder if we dont get in for january or april, if we still have to do the questionnaire for september application. Or if it increases our chances of getting in for september since we are already in the waitlist?

I believe that people like us, who are waitlisted, will be reviewed for a seat this April but I don't think it increases our chances since we are competing amongst April 2018 candidates and they would likely choose applicants through ranking everyone's education, related experiences, and non-cognitive questionnaire. As for September, that's a different intake and application opens at Nov 1 until end of February from what I read on the website, so I'm guessing we need to apply again?

Question about tuition: it mentions in the letter of acceptance that our tuition includes a $200 commitment fee, but I took a look at the tuition breakdown on myBCIT and it doesn't include said fee - does that mean we have to pay the $200 commitment fee PLUS the tuition by Nov 9th?

I spoke to an advisor about this, and you're more than welcome to call and double check. What they told me was that IF you cannot pay the full amount of tuition by November 9th, then you need to pay the commitment fee right away and get a tuition deferral in place. If you can pay tuition up front, then the 200$ commitment fee is included. The commitment fee is only in place to hold you're spot while you wait for your student loan etc.

I'm still hoping to get in for april í ½í¹ Kinda sucks how they have such limited seats. Seriously considering taking lpn now instead coz most of the people that got in have experience in the health field. This is already my 3rd time applying and still no assurance because of competition. í ½í²”

I see, got it...Thank you very much for your explanation. :)

@dg93 have you also tried looking into other schools except BCIT?

Does anyone know how the grading system works at bcit? Like what would an A- be on the gpa scale?

Specializes in Emergency.
