hello! The advisors at BCIT said they do not take into consideration regarding volunteer experience anymore. It now goes by post secondary credits: minimum 40 recommended, work experience, and then GPA. individuals with work experience will be chosen over people with volunteer experience.

Hi! im in BCIT's january 2018 intake. They do look at work experience over volunteer experience. you could have over 200 hours of volunteer experience, but if someone else has job experience they would be chosen over the volunteer hours.

I just got into the BCIT jan 2018 intake and i was from KPU as well. (health foundations) those courses help a lot for credits. I wish you luck!

hey!! don't lose hope yet. BCIT does not only look at GPA. some people have gotten into the program with less than 3.1 GPA. You have a higher chance of getting in with work experience or if you already have a degree.

I am so sorry this has happened to you! None of it was your fault because you did exactly what had to be done in order to apply for the program. I wouldn't call the school anymore, i would actually go in person and be assertive about what had happened and that it isn't fair for them to deny your application after they were the ones at fault. Nothing gets done over the phone or email. If you really want to get in this spring, you should go see them in person!

i got the email but my application status still says "pending department review"

Dont be sad yet!! maybe they're not sending out all of the emails today! They have to send out a lot so many they're doing half today and half tomorrow?
