BCC nursing 2018

Published

Air Hi all! I am creating this forum in hopes to connect with other pre-nursing student applying into BCC's program for fall of 2018! What other schools are you applying to? What are your grades and TEAS scores? Also, current students, if you have any advice or insight on the program?

Thanks! Can't wait to hear from you all.

Oh and are u applying for traditional or e-health?

Is anyone else reading this applying to BCC Fall of 2018?! Would love to connect with some of u!

Hi guys!! I am applying for fall 2018 as well, current GPA is 3.97 and after this semester I only have to take microbio. I got 75 on my teas exam. God bless us all!!

Hi! That's an awesome GPA and great teas score! Did u submit your application yet? I am still trying to decide between chooosing traditional or e-health as my first choice, how about you? And good luck to u!!

Are u girls still around?! Have u sent in your applications yet? Where are all of our future class of 2020 nurses!? ;)

OMG!! This is the post I was looking for!!

So I just took the TEAS yesterday and I'm dying to know what the competition looks like January 2018 nursing application. I got a 74 on the TEAS yesterday, what killed me was the English, even if I had time to even study for the TEAS, which was crazy hard to find time to do, with a full course load AND I stupidly scheduled it the weekend before finals! I don't think I would've done better because it I was confident I was completely solid in English.

It asks so much about identifying parts of speech and things like that, that I wasn't prepared for. My own fault; but 74 I think it's good right?

Here's the thing; I wasn't supposed to be able to apply until to January 2019. I needed CHM 090 to be able to register for A&P I. Then I find out a week or so before registration opens; they made the chem 090 available in January winter session. :-0

4 credits - three weeks. I'm determined to do it.

It wipes out an entire year I was forced to do because BCC only has 1 class per year. The only thing that was holding me back was that Chm 090. I was able to sign up for A&P I this spring!! I'm taking Sipala which I have heard great things about!!

So here are my questions I'm dying to know how many people actually applying??

I'm also wondering where do I rank in our pool of applicants at BCC?? I scored 74, is that actually good?? I think it is because they said I had to get 50 or higher pass/fail. Then I read elsewhere; I think it was Washington state, they required a 98%? :-0 Some schools require you meet the national average? That is some stiff competition!! How does BCC do it?

Also I'm going to be wait listed anyway until I complete A&P spring. If I take chemistry winter session, A&P Spring and redo the TEAS in April or even May, just before the end of A&P (and now I know to concentrate on that English) I know I can pull that score up super high but some say they don't even look at it, strictly pass/fail. (I find that hard to believe though).

Oh so many questions!! Dying to find others applying!!

So what was your TEAS score?

What have you taken already? What campus are you on?

Traditional or online??

Are you going to continue on for BSN??

Alana

I haven't even looked at other schools!

I would have a 4.0 but Dr. Kelly is KILLING me in english 101!! I have 60 credits (completely unrelated to nursing) at CCRI with a 3.68 average and have already taken ENG 101 with an A.

Unfortunately because I have a GED BCC requires ENG 101 and PSY 101 to be in house. I would have clepped it if I had any idea and I still may do that if this guy actually does give me the C I'm looking at now.

I took his class online because I thought, there is no way I will need to devote too much attention to freshman writing. I have 60 credits at CCRI, most classes require at least one paper and others require multiple papers. He's a great teacher if you are a English major, but I'm concentrating on science. Well on top of all that work and because he feels online students take online courses for an easy grade, his syllabus states it's going to be harder,( I wish I believed him and switched.) This is ridiculous though.

Weekly - Reading assignments and 9 essay questions, at a minimum one and 50% of the time 2 essays weekly. Oh and on top of all of that, a critical research essay on The Great Gatsby, which requires probably bi-weekly addition work to show your progress. Like really crazy and its going decimate my gpa.

Hey! Thanks for joining in :) I think a 74 teas is perfectly fine! I've heard they only look at pass or fail, and not the grade so you're definitely good on the teas! Like u said you'll prob be wait-listed since you won't be completing a pre-requisite until spring and I think they're strict about that, but if they see that it's in progress I think you'd have a good chance. Your gpa is good! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I selected e-health as my first choice and traditional as my 2nd choice. All I have left to take it AP2 which I'm taking this spring. I had a bachelors in Biology from 2003 so thankfully all of my credits transferred! Good luck to you, I hope you're able to make it in this year!

I submitted my application last week! I chose traditional as my first choice. I called admissions and they said my application is complete. Now the hardest part is waiting.. :)

Hi I talked to the person who reviews the application and she says that a student cumulative GPA is the first factor which their file is ranked. If there are two or more apllicants that share a cumulative GPA, their point calculations would be used to help them determine their ranking eligibility. Each of the nursing pre-admission requirements(with the exception of CSS 101) is awarded a total point based on grade as follows:

A/A+ =5 points

A-=4 points

B+=3 points

B=2 points

B-=1 point

So your teas score of 74 is good. I have a friend who got admitted and her teas score was only 55

That's good to know! Waiting is def going to be the hardest part!! I was back & forth so many times about traditional or e-health but I have a 6 year old who will be in 1st grade next year and has bad anxiety going to school so if I can be here to get her on the bus at least Monday mornings (when I've heard the lecture is) I think it'll be the best situation so I won't be worrying leaving her with a stranger which I'd have to do. I was told the only difference between the two was the lecture being online. Everything else (clinical and skills labs) are the same and done all together. So hopefully it'll work out.

My cumulative gpa is around a 3.7 but most of that is from my previous biology degree and I can't remember what grades I had in all of the required courses so I have no idea what my points are. Hopefully it'll be good enough. I didn't look into any other schools and have no plan B :( I'd hate to waste this whole next year if I don't make it in..

Hey everyone, I applied for the e-health nursing program for next September. All my pre-admission classes are done with all A's except for a B+ in A&P. I passed the teas with a 54 and my overall GPA is 3.48. I tallied my points and I only have a 21. I'm hoping for the best, even with a low GPA. I was told you just need to pass the teas that's it, not to worry about the score. Good luck everyone!
