BC Online RN Program Jan 2011

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

I wanted to create a new thread for everyone that will be starting the online nursing program, so that we can communicate, share ideas, support one another, and study.

:hrns&wlcm:

Let's get this group going with a head start!!!

:dncgbby:

I went to do the fingerprinting today and it only took about 30 min. Atferwards, I went to the drug testing center and that only took 10 mins, more or less. The travel time between the fingerprinting place and the drug testing site (the address on the lab form they gave us) is only about 10 mins, more or less, apart from each other. Everything was done within one hour once I got to broward @ the fingerprinting place. Not bad . I am glad I have gotten that part over with. The only thing I have to do now, is turn in my folder and binder next week.

Oh, some students were saying that they did not get the white lab form back when they did the drug test, however, I did get my white copy back. Maybe it depended on were they went.

Hello, my name is Lena, I am LPN and I am thinking to start my RN through EC. I guess I am still hesitating because of different way of clinicals, but the more I read the more I realize that it is doable. I would be happy to join group of people to get support and make our own study group. Thank you.

ok, so I think your signature was the one I saw around 11am-ish? lol! I went to the drug test but wasn't able to do the background check...ran out of funds with the 2 extra shots I needed. So I was going to ask you, what was the experience at the background check place? Like what do they do and do you get your results or how does it work?

I have my physical form completed but have to wait until the 30th to actually take the documents up because that's when I'm getting my varicella shot and it's also when I'll be able to do the background check (Thanksgiving is literally getting in my way)....talk about cutting it close.:uhoh3:

LOL...U are really cutting it close, but we all have to do what we have to do. I, myself, am thinking about the books that I have to purchase and the holidays for the kids.

i guess i missed u @ the drug testing site. i believe i signed in around 10:45, somewhere around that time.

the fingerprinting was very simple, easy, fast, and did not wait a long time. i signed in, they gave me back the 2 forms to fill out (the forms we had to print off line for fingerprinting), and they asked for my id and payment. once they processed the payment, they gave back the receipts. i waited about 10 min and they called my name to head to the back. i waited there for about 7 min, and the techs called for me. there was a man and a woman that were doing the fingerprints. they woman did my fingerprints. the machine was small. she wipe my hands with papertowels and placed my fingers on the glass of the machine. then she took each one of my fingers and rolled them side to side. you will see your fingerprints on a computer screen while your fingers are being scanned. after that, i was done and headed to the drug testing site.

i am so glad i got that done and over with. also they didn't give anything back but the receipts for the fingerprinting. the results are sent to broward. make sure u go early to get everything done on the 30th, so u won't miss the deadline. get going early. thatz what i did.

oh, and by the way, my name is pronouced just like the mexican drink. i might be a black mexican because i so luv mexican food and speak only a little spanish (very little). lol...lmao. however, my pronouciation is very good for speaking very little spanish. i took spanish 1 & 2 but lost it due to not speaking the language daily or often. i guess that's enough chit-chatting, don't want to bore u.

this is what i've got on the 30th: 915am get my varicella vaccine. then, whenever that's done and over with haul it to the background check place and when that's done haul it over to bcc and hand everything in. i do have the results of the online background check, do you know if we hand those results in or just the receipt that we did it? i got double copies of everything but have to invest in another folder because mine's ragged from obssessive opening and closing and check and re checking....lol.

i see your name on fb. glad i know how to pronounce it now. : )

i'm still missing some books, that makes me think that xmas might be a bit tight for me and the kids....thinking outside the box here, would it be horrible if i made a paper mache xmas tree and glued it to the wall instead of investing in a real one? hehe, just trying to cut some corners to make up for the excess costs of all these pre admission checks.

oh, and i also got back a white paper from the drug testing place....guess it must've been about where you went to get it done...

......oh and I didn't make it to the drug testing site til 3pm....been cutting it close most of this month, it seems.;)

I am finished with almost everything. I have to retake the Hepatitis series again. I did not show any titers for the vaccine. I first took this back in March 2000. My doctor and the ARNP(@ my job) told me that sometimes there is a small percentage of people that get the vaccine, may not show up as a titer that has been given already. The only thing I can do is retake the series again, which I will do tomorrow @ my job. Then on Wed, I am planning to turn everything in. I am soooo glad that everthing is just about done.

Friday I'm going to go see about hopefully getting the background check done, if not on Mon. Then on Tues, varicella and off to turn everything in.....I already have my physical forms and all the other documentation ready...these are the last two things I have to do.....can't wait til it's over! sheesh

actually im in the school and im in process 2. its harder than process 1 but not by much. from what i hear gi/gu is the one with the greatest failure rate. they do a great job of weeding people out in process one. we started with 110 and we finished process two with maybe 50. a lot of people drop after the first test and after orientation. they scare the living crap out of u during orientation. everything they say in orientation is true u just gotta be prepared for it

So do you know what the codes are for the other courses we taking after the first semester?

like is it nur1220 and the lab? like what does nur1220 mean or the other ones we have?

What do you do in GI/GU? And if you start in the Winter is that the only course you're taking in the first summer since we have the second part of the summer off? How does it work? Thanks!
