Bc3 (Butler County Community College) Nursing Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

I am applying to Butlers nursing program for next fall. I have heard bad and good things about the program. I was wondering if anyone who has graduated or is currently in the program could leave some comments about how thier expierence was or what they liked/ disliked about the program.

Thanks!:)

I will be starting the 3rd semester in August. The schedule is essentially the same as the 2nd semester. Two lectures a week of two hours each and two clinical days that are usually 7am to 1:20pm. The schedule is based on which clinical group you are assigned to but they are all pretty similar. There are some evening clinical rotations available. I had a son born the day before I started the prereqs and my daughter was born three weeks into the first semester of the Nursing program last fall. My wife works full time. I lost my job in April of 2009. Most of the classes I have taken have been online so I have been able to stay home with the kids. Hasn't been easy but everything has been working out schedule-wise. There is a single mother of four who works 30 hours a week in our class. I figure that if she can do it...

Recent BC3 grad. Everyone who as admitted to taking the NCLEX so far has passed. As for applying for jobs, its tight right now, but some are finally opening up. I had one interview this week and have another next week.

I just received my letter of acceptance for Spring 2012 classes at BC3. Any suggestions of what to study or how to prepare to get a 'head start' on the first semester would be greatly appriciated.

Are you an LPN beginning the nursing program in the spring or starting your prereq's at that time?

I am currently enrolled at bc3. I am doing my prerequisites for nursing. I have had a troubled past and am concerned I will not be accepted into the program regaurdless of my gpa. I am 34 and when I was 22 I recieved a dui and resisted arrest. At 26 I had another dui. I am a new mom and I want to make a better life for my son. Should I forget about nursing and try a new feild?

Nobody can say whether or not you will get accepted into the program with the arrest record and charges. Many schools will accept students with criminal records....however... clinical sites and future employers may not allow you to participate in their program/employment. Depending on whats on your record the BON may not give you a license. But nobody here can speak to what they will say to you... only those entities can. Honestly talk to the school and see what they say....BEFORE you take all kinds of classes only to find out you may not be eligible for clinicals.
