Hi and welcome to the site, Have you tried doing a search and see what has already been written on the hospital?

LilBoo, I am currently just a student, but I was a patient at Baystate unexpectedly last summer when my pregnancy turned high-risk; my baby was then in the NICU there for a month. Not sure that the patient perspective is what you are looking for, but wanted to say that I was so impressed with the nurses that I wrote a letter praising them to the admin, and I started to serious look at a career change to nursing myself. Good luck with your search and decision-making!

Unfortunately, I just found out yesterday baystate is not hiring any new grads (may 08) into the NICU because they are fully staffed and there are no plans of anyone leaving

Hi there,
I did all of my clinicals at Baystate Medical Center when I was in nursing school. It's a level 1 trauma center (meaning they get the worst of the worst in Western MA) with all major surgeries medical procedures occuring there. I would say there is about 700 beds so it's very big. It's a teaching hopsital, the western campus for Tuft University, so expect there to be med students, residents, nursing students, ect.
I had a great experience and it is a great hospital to work at, however decided to move to another part of the state to persue my nursing career. Hope that helps.
