I am interested in working for Baycare Hospital system in Tampa region. What are the best rated hospitals in that system, does anybody work as a mobile pool nurse? I currently work at SMH in Sarasota which is licensed for over 600 beds. I am most comfortable working for the big teaching hospitals. I was considering St. Joseph Hospital or Mease Hospital in Clearwater area. I would like to hear some feedback from those of you that work for Baycare Systems, or any Tampa hospitals, the cons and pros, recommendations and what to watch for. Thanks for all suggestions/advice.

You are in the travel nursing forum and travel nurses have a different perspective than permanent employees. It is true that travelers can work directly for Baycare, but you may be better off looking for staff perspective in the Florida forum.

I'm on assignment at Bayfront Baby Place right now and it's been an ok place so far. Also my first travel assignment was at Mease countryside in safety harbor and they were ok also. I've never traveled through the Baycare mobile pool but I've not heard any negs from those I've worked with.
Thanks for the response Carcam75. I am trying to figure out which one of those hospitals is the best for travelers in terms of friendliness and support. All Baycare hospitals are outside of the required 60-mile radius so there is no restrictions from that standpoint. I heard lots of compliments about St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa, but it's located in a relatively bad area.
For the 2 I've been to, I can say they were great with travelers. Bayfront Med Ctr/ All Children's/ Morton plant Mease countryside

I don't work for Baycare, but i am currently working at Tampa General Hospital in their ICU rotation program. From a travel nurse perspective i can't help you since i'm a relatively new grad, but this hospital is great. It's located on Davis Island, which is pricey area, but i met a travel nurse that was put in a penthouse on the island overlooking the ocean. Granted her hourly rate is less than what i make, but the housing alone has to be crazy.

Do you know what she was making as an hourly rate at Tampa General?
I believe she was only making $17-$19. It blew me away
Hourly rates for travelers are misleading. She may have been getting a per diem that added a significant amount, and if she found her own housing probably saved some from the housing stipend. Total pay on most assignments, even in Florida, are over $40 an hour typically.
This questions is for those of you that work for Baycare System, as an agency RN or for mobile pool. Do you have a decent health insurance. I am on 3 medications for a chronic condition and can not be without it. I mainly need a good prescription plan. Do you have an advice on a good insurance plan?

i work for baycare mobile pool as a ms/tele nurse. My contract ends this month and it will probably be my last for a while. I have worked at morton plant, northbay, countryside and st anthonys. some floors in morton plant are decent than orders. my fav is st anthonys. I have heard some floors in st josephs are questionable. PM me if you want more info.
Can you pick and choose which hospitals will you float to? NOrthbay is in New Port Richey which seems like an awfully long distance from Tampa. Do you mind emailing me more details to [email protected] Thanks a lot!
