Has or is anyone currently working for Bayada Home Health? I accepted a position (part time, not leaving my current job b/c of Bayada's pay) Do you like it? What can I expect, etc? The company seems wonderful (except for the pay!!!) any advice or experiences would be helpful!!

I've been w Bayada for over a year, and I am very pleased with the company. The company focuses strongly on their philosophy, The Bayada Way. Our office has a wonderful reputation in the area. The owner, Mark Baiada, is a highly visible figure, and seems to truly care about the company, clients, and employees. He makes a point to communicate periodically through emails and mailings, from holiday greetings to addressing concerns brought up during employee satisfaction surveys. Bayada has an extensive training program with their own company-developed materials, and they make sure you have enough training so they are certain you have the proven skills required. They have in-office clinical testing as well as orientation hours in the field. For example, I had worked w another Home Health company that sent me out to a very difficult trach/vent case right off the bat. I had a total of three hours training with this client. After I realized I had no business working with that client and was in a potentially very dangerous situation, I quit with them and started w Bayada. As per their policy, they didn't even let me touch a trach client until I'd been there for the better part of a year and had proven myself to be a good nurse. Then they needed me to watch training videos, take a written test, and log 16 hours orientation w a trach client and get signed off on skills. I haven't even trained on vent yet!

My office has been very accomodating with my schedule and when I want to work. They have never given me a hard time when I say no.They don't mind giving overtime, either. They also will send out "Bayada Bucks" when you do something extra special for them, like drive to a case in deep snow or work a last minute job when they're in a real pinch to get a case staffed. You can save them up and cash them in for shirts, bags, even high end stuff like designer bags and Svoroski (sp) crystal. Yes, the pay could be better, but that's the case pretty much everywhere these days. I think it's a pretty good tradeoff for the intangible benefits like a flexible schedule (I take EVERY day or week off that I want, as long as I let them know before the month's schedule gets made up), working independently, easy case load (ONE client at a time!), downtime to study or read on the job (especially on the overnights), weekly pay, nice office people who (usually) know what they're doing, great training opportunities, and variety in the work setting. I've worked in really crappy jobs so I know to appreciate a decent gig when I see it. Good luck and I hope your experience w Bayada is as good as mine!

CloudySue, thankyou for your responce! I really appreciate it. I honestly thought "this is too good to be true" when I got hired, but then I heard what they pay :-{. However, I want to learn all those skills that you are talking about, and they are the ONLY company that is willing to train you. Everyone else slams the door in your face. I just wish the pay was a little higher, or I would consider quitting and working there full time.

Depends on the area. The pay range varies by location and the nurse experience. It's usually a $5 range such as $20-25 with $20 for nurses with just a year experience $23 for experienced pedi nurses (or adult if adult office) and $25 for high-tech (trach-vent experienced/qualified) nurses. The pay scale range varies between states/areas, this is an example.
