NO ONE IS HIRING?

come on

:redbeathe

Specializes in ICU.

The same thing is happening to me in Phx. AZ. I just graduated and no one has called me back. Taking by boards today. My sister is a nurse and her manager told me that he couldn't hire me because the hospital will only hire Apollo College new grads first and then if spots are open, they'll hire new grads from other colleges. What a slap in the face. There a too many schools for nursing here, and the hospitals won't fill the open positions with new grad RN's. But yet it's on the news that there's a shortage of nurses here. Thought about moving to another state, but it seems that in CA, AZ and CO it's all the same. No one from Vegas called me either. My wife is in allied health care and the hospitals hired her right away. There is no new grad discrimination towards non-nursing professions. Good luck to you all. Things will get better for us.

Huh, I thought Arizona was one of the states with lots of new grad openings. Here in CA, we still get ads from Arizona recruiters that offer new grads relocation assistance if they come to their med-surg units; after a year of med-surg, they promise to train you in a specialty area.

I hear ya. I have applied to OODLES of positions from San Rafael to San Jose to Sacramento and beyond and there just ain't anyone hiring. All the new grad programs already started. Also, the places that are still hiring new grads are doing it on a case by case basis - it depends if the dept. is willing and has the capability to train a new grad. A recruiter of St. Mary's (CHW) in SF told me that their Bakersfield facility is hiring. I can't do that move due to family but maybe some of ya'all out there that just need your foot in the door can move there for a while...

:up:i feel all your pain for real! Bay Area is starting to really get to me?

As far as Arizona, maybe there are few positions left check out the Banner Health on yahoo hot jobs and student nurse association site,

CA jobs are really in southern california

this is really terrible

anyone thought of states like washington, oregon, or maine

by the way,

plenty of jobs are:

Dayton OHio Miami valley medical center

and Michigan for real those folks want you

and Shreverport Louisiana

Keep me posted

Love you all,

thanks dot

and i saw an ad for nicu new grads in SAC today

I believe you.. There's no one hiring here in San Francisco. they have posted ads but when you get to the job fair, they'll just get your resume. There is an overload of nurses here in SAN FRANCISCO. If I was single I would even go to other States but my family needs me here.

If you are single, find your luck in some other states. They may be paying a lot less than SF but what you'll have is the million dollar hospital experiece you can't get here in SAN FRANCISCO.

EXPLORE OTHER PLACES. GET THE EXPERIENCE... AND AFTER GETTING ENOUGH EXPERIENCE... GO BACK TO SF!!!! that's a piece of advice for you what they call NEW grad nurses/foreign graduate nurses/ new NCLEX passers without acute care experience.... I hope this will be an eye opener.... GOOD LUCK to all of you. :yeah:
